Kris Kristofferson Tributes Paid by Barbra Streisand, Dolly Parton, Blade Director & More

As a long-time fan of Kris Kristofferson, I can truly say that his passing has left a void in the world of music and film that will never be filled. I remember seeing him for the first time at the Troubadour club in L.A., barefoot and strumming his guitar like a man possessed. That was the moment I knew he was something special.

After the demise of renowned country musician and actor, who regrettably passed away at the age of 88, both the music world and Hollywood have been expressing their tributes on social media platforms. The tributes are spearheaded by Kristofferson’s fellow music legend and co-star from the 1976 Academy Award-winning film A Star Is Born, . Streisand shared her thoughts about the first time she witnessed Kristofferson perform and the experience of working together on Instagram.

The first occasion I witnessed Kris perform at the Troubadour club in L.A., it was clear to me that he was extraordinary. With bare feet and playing his guitar effortlessly, he appeared to be an ideal fit for a script I was working on, which eventually evolved into A Star Is Born. In the movie, Kris and I performed a song I had penned for the film’s central love theme, titled “Evergreen.

Last year at my 2019 concert in London’s Hyde Park, I invited Kris up on stage with me for a performance of our duet from A Star Is Born, “Lost Inside Of You.” He was his usual charismatic self, and the audience couldn’t help but shower him with applause. It was heartwarming to witness him bask in the recognition and affection he truly deserved. My thoughts are with Kris’ wife, Lisa, who I know has always been by his side, offering her unwavering support.

Kristofferson’s friend and partner in creative endeavors also honored him on Instagram. Over the years, they teamed up for several duets, such as “From Here to the Moon and Back” and “Put It Off Until Tomorrow”. Parton described his death as a significant loss.

Oh, what a profound sorrow. A truly exceptional writer, actor, and friend you were, Dolly. Your spirit will forever be cherished in my heart.

Besides his successful career in country music, Kristofferson was also recognized for his acting roles on the big screen. One of his most adored performances was that of Whistler in the Blade series, with the director of Blade 2 and Academy Award-winning filmmaker praising him as both “principled” and “humorous” on Twitter.

“He was a true and tried humanist and a stand up fella. Principled, funny and absolutely no-nonsense. Our brief and intense time on Blade 2 was full of lessons to be learned. What a gent! Rest in Peace, oh great one!”

Tributes continued pouring in for the late Kris Kristofferson, with Travis Tritt, who co-starred with him in the 1999 Western “The Long Kill” (or “Outlaw Justice”), expressing his grief on social media. Tritt shared photos of himself with Kristofferson and wrote, “I’m saddened to hear about Kris Kristofferson’s passing. He was a source of inspiration for me, and I felt fortunate to have worked with him on the set of ‘Outlaw Justice’ in Spain in 1998. My deepest condolences go out to Lisa, his wife, and all his family, friends, and fans.” Meanwhile, country singer and actress Reba McEntire also shared her feelings, saying on social media, “What a gracious gentleman, kind soul, and lover of words.
