Krysten Ritter Joins ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Instead of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ – What’s Next?

One thing bound to excite the Marvel fanbase is a post from Jessica Jones star revealing that she’s heading to New York, coincidentally timed with Daredevil: Born Again commencing production on Season 2. However, it appears that – at this moment – her trip to NYC isn’t related to that project, as she’s instead poised to join a different series and take on an intriguing new role within the same universe.

The well-loved actress Ritter, fresh from her role in the latest sequel series, “Orphan Black: Echoes“, has been frequently posting on Instagram suggesting a return to her character in “Jessica Jones“. With “Daredevil: Born Again” strongly hinting at being a continuation of the Netflix “Daredevil” series, fans eagerly anticipate her reappearance as Jessica Jones. However, Deadline reports that she is instead headed to New York City to collaborate with Michael C. Hall in the upcoming installment of the “Dexter” story.

The report suggests that Ritter is set to portray Mia Lapierre, a well-known sommelier who might conceal a shocking secret, in the recurring role of this series. Though more specifics haven’t been disclosed yet, adding Ritter to the cast of the Dexter spinoff is undeniably an exciting move for fans, as filming started last month and boasts a star-studded lineup that includes heavyweights such as Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, David Zayas, James Remar, Jack Alcott, Kadia Saraf, and many more.

Will Krysten Ritter’s ‘Jessica Jones’ Return Happen?

When Marvel brought Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk back to the MCU in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Hawkeye,” fans eagerly anticipated seeing other stars from the Netflix “Defenders Saga” join them in the Marvel Universe. At the top of that list were Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle (The Punisher) and Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones. Since Bernthal is set to appear in “Daredevil: Born Again,” there are rumors about him also getting his own Disney+ Special, leading fans to wonder how much longer Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige can resist introducing Jessica Jones into the mix?

Despite speculation that Ritter’s presence in New York is solely for her role in Dexter: Resurrection, there’s no definitive word yet whether she will also participate in the filming of Daredevil: Born Again‘s second season once her work on the Dexter sequel is completed. Given that production for such projects doesn’t happen immediately and with filming for the Marvel series not yet underway, the opportunity to join seems almost too perfect to ignore.

Currently, fans have the opportunity to revisit Jessica Jones’ past appearances on Disney+, as well as the original Netflix Daredevil series and other Defenders shows. Since the Marvel universe is like one big family, it’s hard to predict who might show up in the future. So, it’s a great idea to reminisce with old friends before embarking on their latest adventures.
