She fondly recalled the unique connection she had with Rajiv Kapoor, mentioning some of the small lessons he imparted on her. She disclosed that in 1983, he suggested wearing white nail polish on her toes, finding it sophisticated, and since then, she’s continued to do so. Furthermore, she noted, “He didn’t approve of my walk, so he taught me how to strut in heels quietly.
Kushboo disclosed that they had talked the day prior to Rajiv’s unexpected demise. She reminisced, “I chatted with Chimpu the day before his passing. He was battling a severely high fever amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite feeling unwell, he remained his typical self… He seemed nonchalant about his health and vowed to meet up soon.
Additionally, the actress disclosed that Rajiv had been struggling with poor health for quite some time, battling a severe knee problem that required numerous operations. Sadly, these surgeries didn’t help his situation. She divulged that she was in Mumbai when she received the devastating news about his demise. Boney Kapoor was the one who broke the sad news to her, saying “Chimpu is gone.” This news left Khushbu completely shocked and stunned.
Kushboo mentioned that she and Rajiv had grown so accustomed to sharing meals together that it became a regular custom for them. His unexpected demise left her stunned, as she characterized him as someone hard to find who possessed such vivacity and an unwavering dedication to friendships. She further stated that even today, she along with his friends firmly believe that he remains with them in spirit.
Back in the day, as a young aspirant in the world of films, I forged a special bond with Rajiv Kapoor while we were both part of the Ram Teri Ganga Maili production. Originally, the plan was to introduce Kushboo Sundar through this film, but due to her tender age of 14 at the time, the director made the decision to cast Mandakini in the memorable role instead.
