In a straight-forward yet engaging manner, let me tell you that SNL’s Homecoming Concert was absolutely fantastic! This special event on the 2025 TV schedule honored numerous legendary musicians who have graced Studio 8H, and it also acknowledged the musical humor that SNL is known for. Of course, The Lonely Island and their videos deserved a grand moment. But, what we and the internet didn’t foresee was Lady Gaga participating in this significant moment! Her performance of “Dick in a Box” with Andy Samberg left us astounded, awestruck, and rolling with laughter.
Initially, during The Lonely Island’s show, it wasn’t immediately apparent what it was. While enjoying the concert through my Peacock subscription, I had assumed we were about to witness Lady Gaga delivering an enchanting rendition of “Shallow”. However, when Andy Samberg appeared in a questionable wig and cowboy hat, it became clear that something unusual was unfolding.
Swiftly, the event morphed into an extensive showcase of the renowned SNL music group and some of their top digital skits. It all began with Lady Gaga delivering a sincere and impressive rendition of “Dick in a Box” alongside Samberg, as demonstrated in the video below:

In no time, the gathering transformed into an extensive display of SNL’s famous music group and their best digital skits. The performance started with Lady Gaga delivering an earnest and impressive rendition of “Dick in a Box” alongside Samberg, as shown in the video below:
Additionally, they performed a portion of “Motherlover” before Chris Parnell emerged for “Lady Sunday.” Later, Gaga reappeared with a box in tow to join the trio and their special guests to bring an energetic end to The Lonely Island medley.
Everyone on the internet couldn’t help but be excited about the performance by Lady Gaga and Andy Samberg of “Dick in a Box.” As @Melissa_Wasser put it, the internet was all abuzz.
This was the most extraordinary dream I ever had, reminiscent of the medley by The Lonely Island and Parnell’s enthusiastic “MUSTARD!!!” shout-out during SNL’s 50th anniversary. #SNL50 [Link]
The best dream I have ever experienced took me back to the memorable medley by The Lonely Island and hearing Parnell exclaim “MUSTARD!!!” on SNL’s golden anniversary. #SNL50 [Link]
Many people were surprised by Lady Gaga’s unexpected performance given her recent release of a new single. Instead of performing the expected choice, she opted for a more humorous selection, as @AMENARTPOP put it.
Absolutely, I can’t help but be captivated by this performance! Lady Gaga has previously hosted SNL, but this time around, it was a clear indication that she’s a musician who should grace the stage as host once more. Fingers crossed, Lorne Michaels, I hope you’re considering having her back for SNL 50, both as host and musical guest, because she certainly demonstrated that she would knock it out of the park (again)!
Revisiting the rendition of the well-known Lonely Island track initially performed by Justin Timberlake, @thebravobabe_ shared:

Lady Gaga just sang D*ck in a Box with Andy Samberg. THIS is an entertainment crossover. #SNL50
Over on SNL’s Instagram post about this moment, the folks in the comments couldn’t stop praising Samberg and Gaga for this seriously hilarious and exceptional performance, take a look at some of the highlights:
- Gaga playing the song completely seriously and straight-faced is the best thing abt this -@mangociana

- Ok Jake Peralta and Lady Gaga mashup was not on my 2025 bingo card but I am SO FOR IT! bring in Doug Judy and we have the ultimate trio. -@jennaarayyy
Indeed, Samberg and Timberlake have staged “Dick in a Box” live many times since its debut in 2006. But this particular performance took things to a whole new dimension.
Gaga’s dedication to her performance was flawless, and her singing was spot-on. Furthermore, it’s hard to make a mistake when Andy Samberg sings a humorous tune.
Indeed, although I could never have anticipated such an event, I must admit that I’m overjoyed it unfolded, and I suspect many others who witnessed it share my sentiment as well.
