Lawless Oblivion Remastered player earns 19 years in prison after stealing 2,900 items and murdering a measly 7 people: “Is the Oblivion crisis still going or…?”

A significant aspect of my roleplaying journey has consistently been striving to adhere to the law and make righteous choices whenever feasible, mirroring my real-life behavior. For me, this approach amplifies the sense of immersion by allowing me to act similarly in a fantasy setting. However, I acknowledge that not everyone shares this perspective when it comes to playing RPGs. Some gamers, such as Viccytrix on Reddit who plays Oblivion Remastered, seem to relish causing destruction and chaos, much like the Gates of Oblivion.

Viccytrix recently posted a stunning achievement on Reddit: a snapshot of their Oblivion Remastered progress, and I must admit, I’m astonished. The caption reads, “I’ve been in prison for 19 years. Is the Oblivion Crisis still ongoing or…?” Interestingly, this is the exact length of time it took Bethesda to refine the original Oblivion game from 2006.

I just spent 19 years in Jail. Yo is the Oblivion Crisis still going on or … ? from r/oblivion

As a model citizen in the world of gaming, I can hardly fathom how one could end up serving nearly two decades behind bars. However, the details are right here for those curious minds like mine. The notorious gamer Viccytrix amassed a whopping 698,040 bounty, reached an astounding Infamy level of 1,401, and spent a staggering 6,990 straight days in the slammer for a series of crimes. This includes the theft of 2,906 items, assaulting 45 citizens of Cyrodiil, taking the lives of seven individuals, and making off with seven horses. While I’m no detective, it seems this criminal has a distinct pattern: eliminate the target and make a quick getaway on their horse.

In a subsequent response, Viccytrix affirmed that as a penalty for their actions, they lost several skill points, following what appears to have been an extended wait on a loading screen. Additionally, they lost any ill-gotten items in their inventory. While in the game’s lore they might have served out the Oblivion Crisis in prison, the actual penalties are not severe enough that I find myself considering straying from my righteous course and giving into my occasional whims.
