Leah Remini Took A Note From JLo When She Filed For Her Own Divorce

As a long-time fan who’s witnessed their lives unfold on and off the screen, it’s always a bittersweet moment when beloved celebrities part ways. The recent announcements of divorces by both Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini, while saddening, seem to hold an air of maturity and self-awareness that’s hard not to admire.

For quite some time, it had been evident that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s marriage was facing difficulties. Therefore, even though it was unfortunate when JLo eventually filed for divorce in August, many people were anticipating this move. In contrast, Leah Remini’s split from her husband Angelo Pagan, after 21 years of marriage, took fans by surprise. As the star of The King of Queens submitted her divorce papers, she chose to follow in the footsteps of her friend by not engaging a lawyer in the process.

As reported by US Weekly, Leah Remini filed for divorce on August 29th without the help of a lawyer, similar to her friend Jennifer Lopez who did the same weeks prior. Both women cited “irreconcilable differences” as the cause of their separations in their respective filings. Remini and her ex, Angelo Pagan, have mutually agreed not to seek spousal support, mirroring JLo’s decision to waive her own rights to support, along with requesting that support be denied to Ben Affleck.

Since Kevin Can Wait’s former cast member and her ex-husband’s daughter is already 20 years old, child support won’t be a factor in their proceedings. According to the records, the longtime couple, who had been together for 28 years in total, parted ways on August 1 of this year.

Legal experts found it “uncommon” for Jennifer Lopez and, presumably, Leah Remini, to file for divorce without legal representation. This action may have been intended as a signal to their former partners, Ben Affleck and… (partner’s name), respectively, that they were serious about moving on and wished to avoid any public disputes in court records.

The Saved by the Bell alum announced that she and Angelo Pagan were divorcing in a lengthy statement on Instagram alongside throwback and newer photos of the couple together. She said in part:

Here we stand, after 28 years side by side and 21 years as husband and wife. We have arrived at the difficult decision to seek a legal separation, following much contemplation and careful consideration. Although divorce can be challenging, we choose to view this step as an opportunity, recognizing that it’s the right path for us towards a brighter future.

She noted that although they continue to be close friends, the dynamics of their relationship have changed over time. It’s important to understand that this isn’t a case of a failed marriage, according to the former “Talk” show host.

Reflecting on a union spanning such duration, filled with precious recollections, notably the upbringing of our remarkable daughter, we find it worthy of celebration. To us, this marriage has been an unquestionable triumph. As we move forward, we eagerly anticipate crafting additional treasured moments – albeit in a new form.

Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini have been friends since 2004; however, whispers of discord arose when JLo rekindled her romance with Ben Affleck, as Remini was said to be unsupportive of the relationship. The host of “People Puzzler” supposedly missed the grand wedding celebration of Bennifer, but this was believed to be due to a scheduling conflict – it coincided with the weekend she was helping her daughter move into college.

Regardless of whether the separation rumors about them were accurate, it seems they reunited during Jennifer Lopez’s divorce from the Academy Award winner. One might ponder if their reunion in any way impacted their respective divorce proceedings.
