As a long-time advocate for the power of creativity and play in shaping our lives, I find the unveiling of LEGO Group’s Superpower Studios at La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris nothing short of inspiring! Growing up, I often found solace and education in the simple act of playing with toys, and it’s heartening to see such a significant player in the toy industry embracing play as a superpower.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve recently discovered my own creative haven – the Superpower Studios by LEGO Group! Located at La Gaîté Lyrique in the heart of Paris, this interactive art gallery empowers me (and other kids) to take charge and transform the space into a vibrant playground for creativity and connection. It’s like being given the keys to my own LEGO universe!
The innovative display, sparked by recent studies showcasing the tremendous advantages of play within families, ignites LEGO’s “Play Empowers You” initiative, encouraging everyone to rekindle the life-changing potential of play. Moreover, this family-oriented event coincides with new international findings by the LEGO Group, indicating that families who engage in play together the most tend to experience the highest levels of happiness. Simultaneously, a staggering 90% of children believe that play is the ideal method for them to gain knowledge, grow, and reveal their authentic selves.
The research, which spans 36 locations with over 61,500 parents and children ages 5-12 also uncovered that 83% of parents see play as a platform for celebrating differences in a fun and positive way and as key to fostering a more inclusive worldview (85%).
Transforming a space previously perceived as geared towards adults, Superpower Studios introduces an engaging art gallery that exudes energy and joy in the bustling Parisian scene. Guided by international Play Advocates, selected for their exceptional creativity and commitment to fostering a brighter future within their communities, their individual styles coalesce around the theme of play.
The Creative Advisor Sarah Andelman, founder of the groundbreaking Parisian store Colette, has been leading the setup process for Superpower Studios. This collaborative project is inspired by children’s creativity in play, and it features the work of renowned French artist Aurélia Durand, alongside Chinese artist Chen Fenwan and Ghanaian-Canadian artist Ekow Nimako, who constructs using black LEGO bricks. In essence, these artists are the driving force behind the realization of Superpower Studios.
