Lifetime Is Taking You to Church With First Faith-Based Film Slate (Exclusive)

Lifetime: Television for (Christian) Women.

On Saturdays, Lifetime’s women-oriented cable channel will air a movie schedule themed around women navigating extraordinary situations guided by their faith. As reported by Lifetime, the four upcoming films feature Chrissy Metz (known for her role in ‘This Is Us’), Alexa PenaVega (‘Spy Kids’), Kat Graham (‘The Vampire Diaries’) and Paula Patton (‘Precious’) as leading actresses.

In this revised version, I tried to make the text more readable and natural while maintaining the original meaning.

Faith Amidst Flames: The Nichole Jolly Saga (July 19) portrays a real-life account of the catastrophic fire that ravaged Paradise, California in 2018; featuring Metz as the lead character, the fearless nurse Nichole Jolly.

Next week, on July 26th, it’s PenaVega’s time in “Before Your Father Finds Us,” a tale about a woman who relies on her faith to shield herself and her teenage daughter from her abusive ex-husband. This storyline is quite reminiscent of Lifetime productions.

On August 2nd, I’ll be immersed in the gripping world of “If I Run,” a Christian suspense novel adaptation by Graham, where I take on the role of Casey Cox, a woman wrongly accused of murdering her best friend. As obstacles pile up, I find solace and guidance in my faith to navigate through this treacherous journey.

Next week on August 9th is when the worldwide premiere of the series titled Finding Faith takes place. This show follows the character, Faith Mitchell (Patton), as she grapples with an unforeseen tragedy and seeks to rebuild her life through a journey of self-discovery, hope, and purpose. The logline explains this.

Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vice president and head of programming at A&E, Lifetime, and LMN, shared with The Hollywood Reporter that they have consistently listened to their audience’s desires for stories that embody strength, resilience, and faith. With these four upcoming films, they are excited to enter the faith-based genre in a way that feels genuine, impactful, and deeply emotional. These stories focus on healing, hope, and perseverance, and we believe they will touch anyone who has ever faced hardships and sought solace in the face of adversity.

faith-centric programming has gained significant popularity ever since Angel Studios’ “Sound of Freedom” unexpectedly became a box office success. Since then, various platforms like Netflix (“Testament: The Story of Moses“) and Amazon Prime Video (“House of David“) as well as Martin Scorsese (“The Saints“) have ventured into this field.

Explore the details of each movie below; the information is all provided by Lifetime.

Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story
Actress Chrissy Metz portrays Nichole Jolly, a nurse at the town’s hospital. On an ordinary day, she faces an unexpected crisis when wildfire rapidly consumes the town. Struggling between her duty to protect patients and finding her husband Nick (Colin Moss) and children, Nichole discovers an inner strength to save not only her family but many residents from the encroaching flames. The movie honors the resilience of the human spirit and the heroes who emerge during hardships.

Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story is produced by Lighthouse Pictures, Wishing Floor Films, FilmAfrika, and Motion Entertainment (a WPP Media Company). Jameson Parker, Catherine Kretz, and Gemma Martini serve as executive producers for Lighthouse Pictures. Danielle von Zerneck takes on the role of executive producer for Wishing Floor Films. Richard Foster, Chet Fenster are the executive producers for Motion Entertainment (a WPP Media company). Rudi Van As, Nicola Unsworth and Schalk Berger produced for FilmAfrika. The film is directed by Jozua Malherbe from a script written by Kelly Fullerton. In conjunction with the release of the movie, the Rebuild Paradise Foundation will be showcased, and A+E Global Media has made a donation to support victims of fire who are still working on rebuilding their lives.

Before Your Father Finds Us
Sophia (Alexa PenaVega) and her daughter Emily are placed into witness protection due to Sophia having to testify against her ex-husband Mason (Tahmoh Penikett). After spending years living a normal life with new friends and relationships, Sophia learns that Mason has escaped from maximum security prison. With knowledge of his power and connections, Sophia must tell Emily the truth about her father’s identity — a dangerous criminal — and flee once more. They seek refuge in an old cabin in the woods, where they must survive against Mason’s relentless pursuit to reunite their family.

As an avid fan, I’d like to share my thoughts on three captivating movies:

1. Terri Blackstock’s If I Run: This gripping tale, based on Terri Blackstock’s best-selling novel, finds me on the edge of my seat as Casey Cox (Graham), a woman wrongly accused of murdering her best friend, embarks on a perilous journey to clear her name. Haunted by uncertainty and guided by divine signs, she manages to stay one step ahead while Dylan Roberts (Evan Roderick, known for his roles in shows like Spinning Out, Arrow, and BH90210), a war-weary veteran and private investigator, is hot on her heels. As the story unfolds, I can’t help but suspect that Casey might be innocent and the truth is far more intricate than it initially appears. James Tupper (Big Little Lies) also stars in this riveting production by Lighthouse Pictures, in Association with Fezziwig Studios. Michael M. Scott directs from a script penned by Alison Lea Bingeman and Kelly Fullterton.

2. Before Your Father Finds Us: Navid Soofi produces this emotional rollercoaster for PF Maple Productions Inc in collaboration with Studio TF1 America for Lifetime. The movie follows the story of a woman (unspecified) on the run after discovering her friend’s murder and being framed for it. As she struggles to find someone she can trust, she flees, using her wit and resourcefulness to stay hidden. Dylan Roberts (Evan Roderick), a veteran with PTSD, is hired to track her down, leading him to suspect that the case might be more complex than it first seemed. This movie also features Tim Johnson, Meghan Hooper White, Amelia Burstyn, and Gary Auerbach as executive producers, and Julie Auerbach and Jason Bourque as writer and director respectively.

3. Finding Faith: After the tragic death of her husband, Faith (Paula Patton) loses faith in God. However, with the unwavering support of her family, pastor, and friends, she slowly emerges from the darkness and begins to rebuild her life. This heartwarming tale also stars Loretta Devine, Stephen Bishop, Nadine Velazquez, Demetrius Grosse, and Keith David.

As a passionate admirer, I’d like to highlight that LazRael Lison took on the triple role of writer, director, and producer for this movie. The esteemed Tatiana Chekhova from Summer House Pictures and Charles F. Porter of Black Bench Productions joined forces in production. Moreover, Paula Patton of Third Eye Productions lent her production skills, with Marlon D. Haynes serving as executive producer.
