Or more casually:
Be warned! Plot twists for the movie Thunderbolts are coming up. You can catch it right now as part of the 2025 film lineup in cinemas.
The physique required for a superhero or action hero is nothing to underestimate. Throughout the years, we’ve been privy to numerous tales and specifics about the dietary habits and exercise routines of individuals such as Chris Hemsworth and Dwayne Johnson. Now, Lewis Pullman shares his experiences in getting fit for Marvel’s upcoming release on the 2025 movie schedule, Thunderbolts*. Despite leaving him feeling less than great, he also discussed how he indulged himself post-filming.
As a passionate admirer, I’ve got to say that Lewis Pullman isn’t a stranger to such high-intensity experiences. In fact, he was part of the magnificent cast for “Top Gun: Maverick,” and you might remember the unforgettable shirtless football scene – a moment Greg Tarzan Davis once described as “starvation” and “testosterone” back in 2023. During an engaging chat with Men’s Health, Pullman shared his unique perspective on that eventful day. While others were stripping down to their athletic best for the scene, my character Bob remained firmly clothed, leaving me as a mere spectator from the sidelines.
Nevertheless, when he portrayed a different character called Bob in the movie “Thunderbolts,” he went through this whole process entirely, as he put it:
or
In the film “Thunderbolts,” he played another character named Bob and fully experienced this process, according to his own words.
I hadn’t really been involved in that situation before, but now I’ve had a taste and quite a lot of it. You seem to be in great physical shape, but the feeling isn’t so good.

As a film critic, I must say that even though Lewis Pullman may not be active on social media, the buzz generated by his “Top Gun: Maverick” co-star, Danny Ramirez, using his platforms to regularly promote Pullman, feels like an exceptional marketing strategy. It’s almost as if having Ramirez champion for Pullman online adds a layer of excitement and anticipation for the movie, making me even more eager to see it!
In the movie *Thunderbolts*, there’s a moment when the actor from *Lessons in Chemistry* is shown without a shirt, revealing his muscular physique, hinting at his superhero-like fitness.
Following their exit from Val’s stronghold, Bob makes a valiant effort to divert attention by darting away from the group. This action results in him being struck multiple times, severely damaging his shirt. Miraculously, he survives these wounds. This incident serves as the first clear indication that Bob possesses extraordinary abilities, as we witness him lifting off the ground and soaring into the heavens – a truly breathtaking scene in the movie. Lewis Pullman’s portrayal during this sequence is particularly noteworthy.
After completing that task, he was now prepared to indulge and rejoice. He decided to go all out, sharing with the media his experience of a “significant Last Supper” and the menu details:
Following the conclusion of that dramatic moment, I indulged in several scoops of ice cream with Snickers bars, followed by a milkshake, a juicy burger, more ice cream, and a heap of French fries. Essentially, I went all out. It felt like the Last Supper, if you will.
This reminds me of the indulgent meals other celebrities treat themselves to following long periods of rigorous fitness routines. Similarly, much like these entertainers, after a brief spell of indulgence, Pullman maintains his physique.
In the upcoming Marvel film, “Avengers: Doomsday,” the character Bob/Sentry/The Void will reappear. This implies that his superhero persona will be back as well. Interestingly, during his training for the “Thunderbolts” project, he developed a passion for boxing, which has kept him committed to his gym regimen.
In our project, we focused on shaping those delicate, slender, agile muscles that would manipulate light. This was often achieved through boxing, a pastime I hadn’t delved deeply into but found myself quite fond of. Since wrapping up production, I’ve persisted with it as I’m not a fan of cardio exercises. I dislike the sensation of exhaustion during workouts because it discourages me from returning to the gym. To keep myself motivated, I need to enjoy my routine, so I can push myself out of bed and head to the gym.
It’s great that Pullman discovered a type of exercise he truly enjoys, and perhaps this will make it more enjoyable for him as he prepares for the launch of Avengers: Doomsday.
As a movie buff, I can’t help but be intrigued by any additional insights Lewis Pullman might have about his workout routine. After all, we’ve seen how grueling it can be for actors to achieve superhero-like bodies, and it doesn’t exactly sound like a walk in the park or a fun time. Yet, it appears that after wrapping up his demanding scene, he took the time to celebrate, and now he seems to be maintaining his physique in a way that truly suits him and brings him joy.
