Despite not being scheduled to perform at Super Bowl LIX in his native New Orleans, hip-hop legend Lil Wayne is still generating buzz. In an unexpected twist, he revealed the release date for his much anticipated album, Tha Carter VI, in a Cetaphil advertisement.
Debuting on February 6, the ad skillfully explores the concept of sensitivity as Wayne assists others in handling tricky social encounters. However, the climactic scene occurs towards the end when he declines exclusive game tickets, saying, “No, it’s time-critical.” The camera then focuses on a sign on a recording studio door that says: “No disturbance until 06-06-25. CARTER VI.” (Note: 06-06-25 refers to June 6, 2025)
In light of the buzz about Wayne’s absence from the Super Bowl Halftime Show, which is now being headlined by Kendrick Lamar, Wayne has chosen to unveil his new album via Cetaphil. Speaking about the matter with Rolling Stone, he explained, “While the world was aware of my disappointment, what they didn’t know was that it motivated me to create something much grander.
Tha Carter VI is officially set to drop on June 6. Watch the advertisement above.
