Lili Taylor Joins Daredevil: Born Again as Kingpin’s New Political Nemesis!

Warning: SPOILERS for the newest episodes of Daredevil: Born Again are ahead!

In “Daredevil: Born Again,” Wilson Fisk, or Kingpin, has managed to control his aggressive instincts, notably avoiding the brutal act depicted in “Excessive Force” that premiered recently alongside “With Interest.” Instead, he’s been focusing on politics as the newly-elected mayor of New York City. This hasn’t been an easy task for him and will become even more challenging with the arrival of a new enemy in season 2 of “Born Again.

I’m thrilled to share that Lili Taylor, renowned from films like “Mystic Pizza,” “The Conjuring,” and “Six Feet Under,” is set to appear in the second season of Marvel’s Disney+ exclusive series. Although the specifics about her character are yet to be revealed, Deadline reports she will be a recurring role as a “political foe” for Vincent D’Onofrio’s character. While I eagerly await discovering the nuances of this character and her connections to Kingpin (D’Onofrio), I have no doubt that Taylor’s captivating performance won’t take long before it stirs up trouble for Fisk.

Initially, I thought Taylor might challenge Fisk in an upcoming election for a new season of Daredevil, but if there’s no significant time gap between Season 1 and 2, this seems unlikely. Instead, I speculate that she could be a prominent figure in New York politics, either on a local or federal level, such as a U.S. Congresswoman. Her objectives would contrast with Fisk’s, possibly obstructing his plans for the redevelopment of the port or other endeavors.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to witness the moment when Lily Taylor’s character gets under Wilson Fisk’s skin so much that his lip involuntarily twitches. This season, we’ve already observed this reaction a few times, and once that lip twitches, it significantly increases the likelihood of someone encountering his wrath. It might be fortunate if all he does is yell in their face rather than using his fists to mar their features. Now, let me ask you a question: will confronting this political adversary be as agonizing for Kingpin as enduring a children’s choir performance of “We Built This City”?

Lili Taylor has recently joined the cast of “Daredevil: Born Again” Season 2, making her the fifth new actor to be part of the show, following Matthew Lillard (who’s rumored to play Mr. Fear), Sydney Parra, Annie Parisse, and James Armstrong. Notable returning actors include Vincent D’Onofrio, Charlie Cox, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Deborah Ann Woll, and Elden Henson (which seems unusual given that his character is said to be deceased). Production for the upcoming season started in February and is set to end in July.

As a devoted cinephile immersed in the thrilling world of Daredevil: Born Again, I’m now left with only three episodes to go in this season’s epic run. This week, we witnessed several pivotal moments unfold. One such moment was Yusuf Khan from Ms. Marvel making his appearance and crossing paths with Matt. Another heart-pounding event saw Matt don the Daredevil suit once more, engaging in a fierce battle against Muse. And, intriguingly, a new vigilante named Swordsman made his debut on the scene. The anticipation is palpable as we eagerly await each new episode!
