Lilo & Stitch Voice Actor Comments on the Live-Action Remake

As a long-time fan and admirer of Chris Sanders’ work, I am beyond thrilled about his involvement in the upcoming live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch. With his extensive experience in animation, from Beauty and the Beast to The Lion King, and his brilliant directorial debut with Lilo & Stitch, he brings a unique perspective that will undoubtedly breathe new life into this beloved tale.

T The Last Airbender and How to Train Your Dragon. In 2025, Lilo & Stitch will join this list. However, it seems that this IP might be a rare case of gracefully enduring the transition to live-action, thanks in part to the skilled direction of Dean Fleischer Camp and the presence of Chris Sanders.

Sanders is well-known for his work in animation, but let’s focus on his achievements for now. As the director and co-writer of the 2002 original movie “Lol & Stitch,” and the long-standing voice of Stitch from that film and its subsequent TV series, direct-to-video sequels, marketing, and merchandise, Sanders has left an indelible mark on the franchise. In a recent interview with MovieWeb, he expressed his confidence in the upcoming live-action movie, confirming his involvement, stating that the director reached out to him approximately a year and a half ago.

“He texted me or emailed me, and he said, ‘Would you be interested in reprising your role as the voice of Stitch?’ So I immediately wrote back and said, ‘Absolutely.’ I still do all the recordings of him. I do them for parades, for toys, for ice shows, things like that. I would love to do it for the film. So he ended up calling me up on the phone, and we were supposed to talk for like 10 minutes. We ended up talking for like two hours, and it was just the best conversation. And we talked a little bit about the DNA of the film, and he asked me a few questions.”

Sanders mentioned that he has completed four separate recording sessions so far. He assumes there may be one more session if there are any remaining details to finalize at the end of the movie. However, he hasn’t seen the final version as it was still being worked on during his recordings. While he has caught glimpses here and there, he is yet to see the complete film because he believes it’s still not fully finished.

Stepping into the realm of cinema, I’ve just had the pleasure of previewing the upcoming “Lilo & Stitch” film, where Maia Kealoha brings Lilo to life and lends her voice to the spirited Stitch, alongside a brilliant ensemble that includes Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance, and Hannah Waddingham. This enchanting adventure is set to hit the big screen on May 23, 2025 – so mark your calendars!
