Lindsay Lohan Says ‘Count My Lies’ TV Role Is First Time She Doesn’t Have a Romantic Interest: “So Refreshing”

Lindsay Lohan is ready to bring on the dramatics.

In the summer 2025 edition of Elle, Lindsay Lohan talked candidly about her upcoming part in the television series “Count My Lies,” which is currently being developed at Hulu and is based on a book by Sophie Stava. This will be the actress’s debut in a scripted TV show.

Lohan shared during a chat with Chloe Fineman on Saturday Night Live that she adores the book, but found herself needing to take a break from reading it for a day because she felt overwhelmed, saying ‘I’m stressed now.’ However, she appreciated this change of pace and looks forward to experiencing something new.”

Or:

“Lohan expressed her affection for the book while discussing with Chloe Fineman on Saturday Night Live. She admitted that she had to halt reading it for a day due to feeling overwhelmed and stating ‘I’m stressed now.’ Yet, she found this shift in activity enjoyable and is excited about trying something new.

The project stands apart because there’s no romantic involvement required, as Lindsay Lohan explained. She shared with the writers and producers yesterday, “It seems you might not realize this, but this is the first time I don’t need to play a character with a romantic interest, the first time I won’t have to kiss someone in the final scene of the movie.” She finds it liberating—a chance to break free from the stereotype of being “that girl” for once.

Sloane Caraway’s Deception revolves around the character of Sloane, a habitual liar, who successfully deceives her way into securing a position as a nanny for the couple, Violet and Jay Lockhart.

Apparently, she’s managed to secure her ideal job according to the show’s introduction. However, unbeknownst to Sloane, she’s stepped into a household filled with hidden secrets that are on the verge of being revealed – which could lead to dire outcomes for everyone involved.” The Hollywood Reporter reports that Lohan will portray Violet Lockhart.

20th Television’s new series titled “Count My Lie” is being written by former “This Is Us” showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who are also executive producing the show under their Walk-Up Company. Lohan and Scott Morgan from The Walk-Up Company will also serve as executive producers, with Stava acting as producer on the project.

In her conversation about potential acting opportunities, Lohan expressed an interest in portraying characters within the realm of “a humorous yet somber genre, much like the film ‘Mean Girls'”.

She clarified, “I’m referring to the type of movie that’s meaty, entertaining, and humorous, a clever comedy, not a romantic one. It’s simply a straight-up funny film. I’m looking forward to this drama role. I’d be thrilled to collaborate with some renowned directors.

She mentioned Quentin Tarantino, Julianne Moore, Robert De Niro, and Al Pacino as individuals she’s eager to collaborate with.

Lohan mentioned that she’s never acted as Moore’s daughter before, but now they might be portraying siblings. Regarding De Niro and Pacino, Lohan expressed interest in collaborating on a project reminiscent of ‘The Sopranos’, given her Italian heritage.

Following a break, Lohan has reemerged in the limelight, taking on numerous acting roles. She attributes her comeback to Netflix, stating, “It was really Netflix. I had been visualizing it during COVID. I’d write it in my journal and say it over and over again. And then, miraculously, that’s exactly what happened. I thought, ‘I’d love to work with Netflix.’ So, I made it happen, and now I’m working on another project with them. Initially, I had also wished for three films with them, and then perhaps a first feature film with Disney. I manifested that, and now I’m manifesting this current project.

Lindsay Lohan appeared in Netflix’s Christmas movies titled “Falling for Christmas” (2022), “Irish Wish” (2024) and “The Little Secret” (2024). Additionally, she will be reprising her role as Anna in Disney’s “Freakier Friday,” set to release on August 8.

Lohan expressed a recurring desire to produce films similar to those she mentioned – ones that uplift audiences and foster unity. She enjoys filmmaking for this very purpose, as it provides an escape for people and offers them comforting insights about life. However, with Netflix, Lohan felt the need to explore different topics. She can’t continue making such films indefinitely.
