Kevin Beggs, who serves as the head of Lionsgate Television Group and its chief creative officer, has recently been appointed to lead the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
Fred Cohen’s position as the organizer of the International Emmy Awards, recognizing excellent TV productions produced beyond the US market, is now being taken over by someone named Beggs. The awards ceremony, which takes place annually in New York City during November, continues to honor these outstanding productions.
Cohen is leaving his current position but will assume the roles of foundation chair and executive committee member. Meanwhile, Beggs has been promoted from the position of treasurer at the International Academy, with Bruce Tuchman, the current secretary, set to fill the vacated treasurer role.
Kevin, who has been a well-respected figure in our industry since joining the executive committee of the International Academy in 2009, has been appointed as chairman. Bruce L. Paisner, the president and CEO of the International Academy, expressed his joy about this development in a statement he made on Thursday.
Over a span of 25 years, Beggs played a pivotal role at Lionsgate, driving the expansion of Lionsgate Television within the major studio to generate around $1.5 billion in yearly revenues. Simultaneously, he established connections with influential TV creators and content purchasers in Hollywood.
