As a long-time fan and avid gamer of electronic music, I can’t help but be moved by SOPHIE’s posthumous releases of “Berlin Nightmare” and “One More Time.” These tracks are not just musical pieces but rather, windows into the artist’s soul, showcasing her unparalleled creativity and innovation in the genre.

Two recently dropped songs, titled “Berlin Nightmare” and “One More Time,” are out now from the late artist SOPHIE. These new tracks are included in her forthcoming posthumous album, named after the artist herself, SOPHIE. This second and final album was close to completion before SOPHIE’s tragic passing in 2021; she had been collaborating with longtime partner Benny Blanco on the project for years.

“Berlin Nightmare” with artist Evita Manji: This track delivers raw rhythm with its intense build-ups leading to powerful, resonating beats. Few lyrics are sprinkled throughout, leaving room for the music’s techno essence to take center stage in clubs and dance floors alike.

Instead of that, consider this: The collaboration between Popstar on “One More Time” starts off softly with a barely noticeable rhythm. It’s only around the two-minute mark when the track gains momentum and becomes more pronounced. Subsequently, the tempo increases, with the phrase “one more time” being repeated frequently. Finally, the song concludes with rapid beats.

Two songs have been released following last month’s lead single. One is “Reason Why” with Kim Petras and BC Kingdom, which has a lighthearted pop feel and includes catchy vocals from SOPHIE and Petras. They trade verses, while Petras sings the chorus in her distinctively bubbly voice, sharing lyrics such as “Look inside your thoughts, your gaze / Ponder your existence, assess / What’s your story, your maze / I understand the reason behind.”
