As a dedicated gamer and avid follower of television news, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard that Apple TV+ has greenlit a third season for “Loot”! This comedy series, led by the brilliant Maya Rudolph, has been a refreshing addition to my weekly watch list.
Apple TV+ is ready to hand out some more Loot.
A third season of the comedy series led by and overseen creatively by Maya Rudolph has been commissioned by the streamer, following the conclusion of its second season seven weeks ago.
I’m excited to be back for another round in the third season of “Loot”! It’s amazing to have the opportunity to work once again with such a brilliant cast and crew. Partnering with Apple TV+ to create this show has been an absolute pleasure, and I can’t wait to reconnect with my “Loot” family.
The storyline of “Loot” revolves around Molly Wells (Rudolph), who is in the process of finalizing a costly divorce with her tech CEO husband (Scott). Instead of dwelling on her financial loss, she focuses on a neglected charitable foundation and makes the decision to donate a significant portion of her wealth. Joining Molly in this journey are Michaela Jae Rodriguez, Nat Faxon, Ron Funches, Joel Kim Booster, Meagen Fay, and Stephanie Styles.
“Every season, Apple TV+’s hit show ‘Loot’ brings happiness, amusement, and lovable characters to viewers worldwide, according to Apple TV+ head of programming Matt Cherniss. He is thrilled to collaborate with Maya Rudolph and the entire team behind ‘Loot,’ aiming to generate more heartwarming scenes featuring beloved characters in the upcoming third season.”
In December 2023, production for the second season resumed after last year’s writers and actors strikes came to a halt. Co-creator Alan Yang expressed his pride in the cast and crew for powering through and completing the final eight days of filming as if nothing had disrupted their progress. He added that he was grateful for everyone’s unwavering dedication as union workers, allowing them to bring the show to a satisfying conclusion. The team remained connected throughout the ordeal via text threads and even took a trip to Disneyland together to maintain morale.
The series has also developed a will-they-or-won’t-they dynamic between Molly and Faxon’s Arthur — one that Faxon hopes will land on the “will they” side in season three. “For Arthur, I do hope that he and Molly can get in sync,” he told THR. It’s been a really fun will-they-won’t-they ride, but I feel like they’re deserving of each other and complement each other well. So I’m hoping that there is a happy ending down the line.”
Yang and Matt Hubbard developed the show “Loot” in collaboration with Rudolph and Behrens from Banana Split, Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment, and Natasha Lyonne. Universal Television is responsible for its production.
