As a seasoned film enthusiast with over three decades of immersion in the world of cinema, I must say that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming directorial, Love And War, promises to be an extraordinary masterpiece. Having closely followed his career and witnessed the grandeur of his period dramas firsthand, I am thrilled to see him venturing into contemporary territory with this ambitious project.

It was our team who initially shared the news that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is assembling Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal for his upcoming project, Love And War. If you’re curious about why it’s taking so long for this filmmaker to finalize the movie, here’s a brief update. In a recent interview, SLB mentioned that the movie is challenging and significant for him, which is why he wants to invest ample time in its development and ensure he doesn’t underestimate his talented cast.

Since the unveiling of Love And War, there’s been chatter suggesting it’s influenced by the 1964 film Sangam starring Raj Kapoor, Vyjayanthimala, and Rajendra Kumar. However, Sanjay Leela Bhansali clarified to The Hollywood Reporter India, “There’s no need to remake classics like Sholay or Mother India, so why would I remake Sangam?” He also shared significant details about his upcoming film with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.

According to the director of Heeramandi, this film holds a unique place for him because it breaks away from the traditional period settings, lacking pillars, costumes, and horses, instead being set in contemporary times. It’s different, with distinct music as well. The director also expressed his enthusiasm for working on this project and mentioned that he has an exceptional cast. In addition, he mentioned that he will be collaborating with Ranbir Kapoor again after a gap of 18 years, following their work together in Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.

The filmmaker not only applauded Alia but also shared that despite their recent collaboration in the critically acclaimed film Gangubai Kathiawadi, he’s eager to continue working with her because there’s still a wealth of stories yet to be told through her unique talents. He commented, “There’s still so much untapped potential in this small package, big impact girl.” Regarding Vicky Kaushal, the lead actor in Sam Bahadur, Bhansali shared that this will be their first project together and expressed delight not just about their acting skills but also their warm personalities. “The affection I have for them, and the affection they have shown towards me so far, is very strong. I am excited about it,” he said.

Speaking further about the upcoming movie, its creator mentioned that it holds significant importance in his career. He’s been working tirelessly without a break, and when asked if he feels fatigued, he expresses a sense of reinvigoration instead. He’s eagerly anticipating the release of “Love And War.” However, he acknowledged that the film is challenging for him, so he plans to take some time to ensure it’s made with utmost care and precision. He emphasized the responsibility involved in its production, assuring that they won’t underestimate himself, his talented cast, or their audience. The public will have to wait until March 2026 to enjoy the film on the big screen.
