As a long-time fan of reality dating shows, I must say that I am eagerly anticipating the new British adaptation of “Love is Blind.” Having watched the original U.S. version numerous times, I can confidently say that it has a unique and captivating format that keeps me engaged from start to finish. The concept of singles dating without ever seeing each other before proposing feels like a rollercoaster ride filled with suspense, emotion, and unpredictable twists.
One Cast Member Has Ruffled Fans’ Feathers
Sam Is Too Focused on Physical Appearance
Viewers find Sam rather off-putting in the show “Love is Blind: UK”. This man, who considers himself more like a big kid, is actually a 31-year-old product design manager. He seems to exhibit traits of being spoiled, entitled, and narcissistic. Interestingly enough, he places a significant emphasis on physical appearance, as evidenced by his decision to get a nose job and train at the gym before filming, as reported by Daily Mail. While it’s commendable that he’s working to improve his health, this focus on looks gives cause for concern.
As a movie enthusiast, I can’t help but ponder over the actor who suddenly started hitting the gym just before the premiere of his latest film. Given the short timeframe, it’s hard for me to believe he underwent such a significant physical transformation, which has led many fans to speculate that this new fitness regimen was more about responding affirmatively to the inevitable “do you go to the gym?” question in interviews rather than a genuine commitment to health and fitness. It seems somewhat incongruous for an acting role that emphasizes emotional bonding for such physical changes to take place at the last minute, doesn’t it?
Despite his attempts to downplay or dismiss them, Sam’s actions continued to raise concerns, as he frequently boasted about his attractiveness and charmed the women in the pods by suggesting they would recognize him as a charming man from across a room. When Jasmine, a mental health nurse, directly questioned whether he might be manipulating her with flattery, Sam grew angry and lashed out, claiming that “good men” are never appreciated or successful.

Sam persisted in talking with various women about finding someone who could provide him with the love and support he desired, and be a significant influence in his life. However, it appeared that he seldom, if ever, discussed what qualities or contributions he intended to bring to a relationship himself. It seemed that Sam was so set on discovering his ideal partner that he didn’t seem inclined to strive to become the ideal partner for her. After Justine ended things with Sam, he expressed in his confessional that “one can’t be too picky,” suggesting he would now turn his attentions back to Nicole, a 29-year-old marketing executive from Surrey, England.
It appears that everything Sam said to the women in the pods came off as insincere, which became even more evident when Benaiah wanted to share his opinion about Sam with Nicole to safeguard her. After listening to unappealing remarks, Benaiah felt it necessary to inform Nicole that he believed Sam wasn’t acting honestly. A comment that may have prompted Benaiah to warn Nicole was when Sam returned to the men’s suite and mentioned a conversation he had just had with Nicole.
In the conversation, Sam expressed eagerness to embrace and lift Nicole upon meeting in person. Trying to lighten the mood, Nicole playfully questioned, “What if you can’t?” She was concerned that his interest wasn’t genuine. Afterwards, back in their shared space, Sam appeared troubled by their discussion and sought comfort from his co-stars, implying that he feared Nicole might be heavier than he had expected. He awkwardly started to say, “It’s okay if somebody’s a bit…,” leaving the sentence unfinished, hinting at worry about her size potentially not meeting his preference.

Fans have been noticing similarities between Sam’s actions and those of Shake Chatterjee from the second season of Love is Blind U.S., particularly due to Sam’s frequent focus on weight and physical appearance. He’s often referred to as the most sincere and charming cast member since Cameron Hamilton from the first season of Love is Blind U.S. This 32-year-old from Bolton, England has left fans astonished that he remains single and is still searching for love.
Beyond his striking features – his kind eyes, strong physique, and classic charm (which certainly add to his appeal), it’s Freddie’s genuine kindness that truly sets him apart. Contrary to popular belief, being a funeral director is often seen as unappealing by many. Yet, Freddie finds joy in his work, viewing it as the care of a family’s cherished loved one. (Cue the heartwarming sighs.)
Additionally, he has an older sibling who has Down syndrome, and they share a strong bond. Freddie frequently shares pictures on Instagram of them spending time together.
