Well, it looks like homeowners and HGTV viewers may be able to love it again after all.
The popular show “Love It Or List It” has been renewed on the network, over a year since speculation about its future arose due to the departure of one of the original cast members, Hilary Farr. In her place, existing HGTV talent Page Turner will join returning co-star David Visentin.
If you’re not already aware of the format of “Love It Or List It”, it’s unlikely that you’d be reading this. However, for those who have a lot of free time or just need a refresher, here’s a brief rundown: A couple (less tumultuous than those featured on “House Hunters”) often find themselves at an impasse about whether to keep their current home or relocate. The designer (Turner replacing Farr) works on renovating the house to meet their requirements, while the realtor (Visentin) shows comparable properties to convince the couple who are more inclined towards staying put. There are several options to choose from, and in the end, the renovated home they already own is revealed. The couple then decide whether to stay (Love it!) or move (List it!).
Back in 2008, I fell in love with the debut of “Love It or List It.” Over a span of 258 episodes before Farr’s departure, this show truly shone. The dynamic between Visentin and Farr was captivating, often playful yet occasionally electrifying. However, after an impressive run, Farr, who also graced our screens with “Tough Love With Hilary Farr,” chose to part ways in December 2023. In a conversation with Vulture at the time, she expressed that she was growing tired of the routine and found the show’s formula to be repetitive and lacking in freshness.
Turner brings new talent to the team, as the production has typically been filmed in Canada with occasional U.S. seasons. She made her debut on Flip or Flop Nashville, followed by an appearance on Fix My Flip. As a real estate broker licensed in three states, Turner might catch Visentin off guard.
Fans of HGTV initially grew fond of Page Turner on ‘Flip or Flop Nashville’ and ‘Fix My Flip’, and got a glimpse of her competitive spirit during two seasons of ‘Rock the Block’. Now, with her extensive experience in real estate and design, she’s ready to take on a new challenge in this well-known real estate competition. We can hardly wait to see her go head-to-head with David!” (Loren Ruch, HGTV head of content)
The upcoming eighth season of “Love It or List It,” featuring eight one-hour episodes, is scheduled for release in Summer 2025. According to Reddit (though I haven’t personally verified the numbers), it seems that, historically, a larger number of show participants have opted to keep their homes post-renovation. We’ll see if Turner can continue Farr’s trend of “Loving It” in the upcoming season.
