- Lucky Offense is a newly released turn-based strategy where luck is a major component
- Spin on gacha to receive new commanders in each battle, and combine them to create stronger ones
- But don’t just rely on luck because strategy is also a major factor
In his seminal work The Art of War, Sun Tzu said, “What the ancients called a clever fighter is one who not only wins but excels in winning with ease.” Now this has absolutely no relevance to today’s subject, but it does sound awfully clever. And in Lucky Offense you’ll be able to feel just as clever when luck is on your side.
Out now on iOS and Android, you may remember us covering the casual strategy release Lucky Offense a few months ago. A mixture of merge, turn-based strategy and gacha, it encourages frequent use of said system to gain stronger and stronger guardians that can then be merged to further beef up your army.
The game, Lucky Offense, appears to be designed with a simple, cartoonish aesthetic and easy-to-understand mechanics, indicating that its target audience is likely casual players. However, this isn’t necessarily a negative aspect as it suggests a well-executed game.
Get lucky
Fortunately, luck isn’t the only factor in success in Lucky Offense as you’ll also need to craft a decent strategy. And with a variety of bosses to face down things can quickly go pear-shaped if you hop in unprepared. So while it may not test your strategic mindset like say, Total War, it seems like Lucky Offense will offer plenty of intriguing fun for fans of this sort of thing.
Better yet you can dig into one of our current reviews to see what’s making a mark. This week, Catherine dug into The Great Sneeze and explored this distinctly funny story-based game to see whether or not it’s worth a go.
