‘Mad Men’ Actor Adapting Baby Deaths Probe Book as Feature After Son’s U.K. Hospital Death

As a gamer with a deep affection for both cinema and the intricate tapestry of life experiences that shape our favorite actors, I find myself captivated by the latest developments in Jamie Thomas King and Tamara Podemski’s careers. Their newly-launched Blackbird Productions banner promises a fascinating array of projects, from dramas like “Trust,” based on a heart-wrenching true story, to comedies such as “Happily Ever After” and “The Sellouts.

British thespian, Jamie Thomas King, is transforming James Titcombe’s book titled “Joshua’s Story: Unveiling the Morecambe Bay Maternity Scandal” for a movie production on the silver screen.

As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share the exciting news that Jon Hamm, famously known for his captivating roles in Mad Men and The Tudors, is scripting a movie titled Trust. This upcoming production will be a joint venture between him and his wife, the talented Canadian actress Tamara Podemski, under their freshly-established banner, Blackbird Productions.

Currently, I’m not planning to participate in or oversee the project. However, I did develop an interest in the topic after Benjamin’s demise and the ensuing legal dispute,” King explained to The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.

In 2016, tragedy struck Podemski when her newborn son, Benjamin, passed away due to medical oversight five days after she delivered him via a delayed cesarean section. At that time, the popular actor known for shows like “Reservation Dogs” and “Outer Range” was 14 days past her due date and was hurriedly taken to Royal United Hospital in Bath, Somerset. However, the emergency surgery scheduled for her was unfortunately postponed.

In 2015, Titcombe’s book titled “Joshua’s Story” was released, detailing the tragic passing of his young son Joshua who died when he was merely nine days old in 2008 at Morecambe Bay Hospital in the U.K. The unfortunate death of baby Joshua, partially due to an infection overlooked by medical personnel, led to a comprehensive investigation report published in 2015, known as the Morecambe Bay Investigation, which highlighted medical errors causing the avoidable deaths of a mother and 11 infants.

Among King’s other notable roles are appearances on ABC’s “Private Practice,” CBS’ “Elementary,” BBC’s “Call The Midwife,” and films such as Mike Leigh’s “Mr. Turner” and Tomas Alfredson’s “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy.

Blackbird Productions’ debut film is “The Light Before The Sun,” directed by Michael Greyeyes. In this movie, we see King portraying a well-known self-help figure who finds himself unexpectedly reunited with an old friend, played by Rick Roberts, at his home after a book tour. As the story unfolds, the friends embark on a drug-fueled exploration of the nature of humanity together.

The Light Before The Sun is set for a world premiere at the Hamilton Film Festival next month.

In addition to the ongoing projects at Blackbird, there’s a 10-episode comedy titled “Happily Ever After” being developed. This series is created by Noelle Carbone and Podemski, with King joining them as a cast member. Meanwhile, Podemski is also working on another 10-part comedy called “The Sellouts“. This project, created by the Podemski Sisters – Tamara Podemski, Jennifer Podemski, and Sarah Podemski, is set to feature them as stars.

As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to share that I’m currently working on a movie project titled “Little Rock Talent Show.” Besides this exciting venture, you might recognize me from HBO’s show “Run” and CBC’s series “Coroner” and “The Rez.” Interestingly, I was awarded the Sundance Special Jury Prize for my acting role in Sterlin Harjo’s film “Four Sheets to the Wind.
