As a seasoned collector of exquisite timepieces, I’ve seen my fair share of collaborations that promised to redefine horology, but few have caught my eye like the MAD x seconde/seconde/ “Royal Order” watch. With its distinctive blend of classic Royal Oak charm and seconde/secondes’ signature quirkiness, this piece is a masterful symphony of form and function.
MAD and second/ö/, two brands renowned for their unique and inventive approach to watchmaking, have joined forces to reinvent a classic version of the Royal Oak timepiece.
In a small production of only 10 pieces, this unique timepiece, crafted through collaboration, maintains the iconic form and scale of the Royal Oak. The design is sleek and modern, with a silvery-toned steel finish visible on the bracelet, case, bezel, and all its decorative elements.
Simultaneously, the dial features a rich and enigmatic deep blue shade. Keeping with second/secund’s innovative ideas and whimsical style, the hour-markers, indices, AP logo, and date window are all positioned to the left side of the watch face. As described by the designers, this watch design revolves around the idea of “controlled chaos,” a concept beautifully represented in a dial that might be considered as “lawful evil” on a D&D alignment chart.
You can explore the MAD Paris watch known as “Royal Order” by visiting their official website. This unique timepiece carries a hefty price of €74,000 EUR (around $81,142 USD). However, it’s not yet in stock; instead, it will be custom-made for you with an estimated delivery timeframe of 8 to 10 weeks.
