Actor Mads Mikkelsen will appear in the action-thriller movie titled “Sirius,” marking the first time Oscar-winning editor Lee Smith has taken on a directorial role. Smith is widely recognized for his work with director Christopher Nolan, having collaborated on films like “Interstellar” and “Dunkirk.
The Arctic-based project draws inspiration from the actual Sirius Patrol, a specialized Danish military group responsible for safeguarding Greenland’s vast, icy coastline spanning over 8,700 miles. The script for this project was written by Tony Mosher.
Smith has a reputation for working with directors like Sam Mendes on the film ‘Empire of Light’, and Peter Weir on ‘Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World’.
Or, in a more active voice:
Smith collaborates with renowned directors such as Sam Mendes on the movie ‘Empire of Light’ and Peter Weir on ‘Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World’.
The American debut of the movie, branded by Neon Label Decal, signifies their initial nationwide distribution within the United States. Rights to show this film internationally will be offered at the Cannes Film Market, with Neon taking charge of international sales.
Pascal Degove and Matt Williams will serve as the producers, while Deborah Acoca will take on the role of executive producer, both for Future Artists Entertainment.
As a dedicated admirer, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation as Neon, with its rich history at the Cannes Film Festival and market, is set to premiere some truly captivating films this year. Last year, we witnessed Sean Baker’s masterpiece, Anora, which eventually clinched the 2025 Best Picture Oscar.
This time around, Neon is treating us to a lineup that includes Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, Julia Ducournau’s Alpha, and Raoul Peck’s Orwell: 2+2=5, not to mention Michael Angelo Covino’s comedy, Splitsville, starring the talented Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona. The countdown to Cannes has officially begun!
Decal’s latest offerings feature the true-crime drama “McVeigh“, headlined by Alfie Allen, as well as the romantic comedy duo of Lucy Hale and Nat Wolff in “Which Brings Me to You“. Also, the highly popular series “Perfect Addiction” from Wattpad.
As a gamer, I’m managed by three different agencies – UTA, Art Management, and Viewpoint. On the other hand, Smith is under the management of Gersh. Interestingly, Mosher, like me, is also handled by Gersh, but they have two additional agencies – Circle of Confusion and Behr Abramson.
