Yesterday (April 4), the renowned actor and director Manoj Kumar passed away, leaving the nation in mourning. His death has been met with widespread shock. Today, he received a state funeral, and at the cremation site, there was a palpable sense of emotion as numerous Bollywood personalities gathered to say their last goodbyes. One particularly poignant moment was Manoj Kumar’s wife, Shashi Goswami, weeping openly during the final rites.
Today, Manoj Kumar was given a grand state funeral, an appropriate send-off for such a distinguished career. Clad in the Indian flag, this esteemed actor was honored with a solemn ceremony, while police officers paid their heartfelt tributes.
At the Pawan Hans Crematorium in Mumbai, there was a powerful display of affection and sorrow as many well-known Bollywood stars attended the farewell. Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek were among those who came, while Salim Khan was seen with his son Arbaaz Khan. Other prominent figures, such as Prem Chopra, Rajpal Yadav, Zayed Khan, and Vindu Dara Singh also made an appearance to express their deep sympathies.
Previously, upon hearing about the demise of Manoj Kumar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his sincere sympathies on a platform that used to be Twitter. He remarked, “He was a renowned figure in Indian cinema who was notably admired for his strong sense of patriotism, which was clearly depicted in his movies.
Manoj Ji’s work sparked a sense of national pride that will endure for future generations. In this moment of sorrow, my sympathies go out to his loved ones and those who looked up to him. May peace be with them,” he concluded.
Manoj Kumar was affectionately known as Bharat Kumar due to his iconic patriotic performances. Sadly, he passed away at 87 years old in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. He had been admitted there on February 21, 2025, when his health started deteriorating. Despite tireless medical efforts, his condition continued to worsen, ultimately resulting in his passing at the Andheri branch of the hospital.
