Mario Lopez And Elizabeth Berkley Recreated Classic Saved By The Bell Dance, And Then He Truly Went All A.C. Slater On Her

As a devoted fan who’s seen every episode of Saved by the Bell more times than I care to admit, it’s heartwarming to see Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley still dancing their iconic steps after all these years. Their camaraderie and on-screen chemistry are as palpable as ever, reminding us that Bayside High will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Thirty years have passed since the final episode of “Saved by the Bell” aired, yet its popularity remains strong among fans today. This NBC sitcom was packed with dramatic moments and iconic scenes, boasting many memorable episodes, lines, and more. The reboot series on Peacock has attracted a new generation, as several members of the original cast, who remain close-knit to this day, have returned. Not long ago, Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley reunited to recreate an iconic dance that evokes a wave of nostalgia.

The duo played the on-off couple A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano on the beloved series, and even years after their time at Bayside High came to an end, they still got the moves. Lopez and Berkley appeared at Fan Expo Chicago on August 17 and 18 and proved that they really are “friends forever.” The actress also took to her Instagram to share a sweet video of her and Lopez in between photo ops where they were doing a dance from SBTB, and all you really need is the music in the background, and it’s like they’re back in the show:

In addition to Berkley’s statement, “You can remove children from Bayside, but you can’t remove Bayside from the ‘children,'” Lopez embraced his character A.C. Slater, showcasing his dance moves and taking a leadership role. Notably, Slater’s dancing was one of the most memorable aspects of Saved by the Bell. Furthermore, he playfully tackled her, but Berkley humorously mentioned that she doesn’t practice Jiu-Jitsu, which is why she surrendered so quickly.

In the revival of “Saved by the Bell”, both Berkley and Lopez reprised their characters, but the show was terminated after two seasons in 2022. It’s accessible with a Peacock subscription. They were the initial cast members to join the remake, and although Jessie and Slater didn’t share a romantic relationship in the new version, there was undeniably something between them. Moreover, their on-screen chemistry remains strong even after so many years, and they continue to stand by each other through various challenges, whether they’re wearing Buddy Bands or not.

Apart from Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley, other cast members of “Saved by the Bell” still maintain close relationships. In 2023, Tiffani Thiessen shared about her bond with her former co-stars, mentioning that she spends the most time with Mario, but also has a particularly strong and enduring friendship with Mark-Paul Gosselaar, whom she portrayed her on-screen boyfriend. She is also quite close to Elizabeth Berkley, and this camaraderie is evident in the reboot.

Currently, it appears that “Saved by the Bell” isn’t available for streaming anywhere, which means fans can’t watch their beloved Jessie and Slater scenes or learn the history behind that popular dance. However, you can purchase or rent episodes if you’d like to revisit some of them. Although the show didn’t reach a full 100 episodes, there’s still plenty to enjoy. For those craving more nostalgia, the reboot series is currently streaming on Peacock, offering a dose of nostalgia that should hold you over, at least temporarily.
