Mark Harelik, Katey Sagal Join ‘One Piece’ Season 2

As a seasoned gamer and anime enthusiast with over three decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that the casting announcements for One Piece season two have sent a wave of excitement coursing through me! Katey Sagal and Mark Harelik joining the cast is nothing short of brilliant. While I’ve always been a fan of Sagal’s work on shows like Sons of Anarchy and The Conners, her portrayal of Dr. Kurehao will undoubtedly bring an extra layer of depth to this iconic character.

One Piece season two is rounding out its cast.

Katey Sagal and Mark Harelik have joined the cast, as announced by Netflix on Wednesday. In their roles, they will portray Dr. Kurehao and Dr. Hiriluk respectively. You may recognize Sagal from her work in Sons of Anarchy and The Conners, while Harelik has recently been seen in AppleTV+’s Presumed Innocent and The Morning Show.

The following individuals have been added to the cast along with previously announced actor Brendan Sean Murray (Brogy), Callum Kerr (Smoker), Camrus Johnson (Mr. 5), Clive Russell (Crocus), Daniel Lasker (Mr. 9), David Dastmalchian (Mr. 3), Jazzara Jaslyn (Miss Valentine), Julia Rehwald (Tashigi), Rob Colletti (Wapol), Ty Keogh (Dalton) and Werner Coetser (Dorry).

In the upcoming season of “One Piece,” I’ll be stepping back into my character alongside Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, Taz Skylar, Ilia Isorelys Paulino, Jeff Ward, and Michael Dorman. We’re all excited to continue our adventures in the world of “One Piece”!

The show, based on a live-action remake of an iconic anime, chronicles Godoy’s journey as Monkey D. Luffy on a legendary ocean voyage. Having made up his mind to pursue his dreams of liberty, he gathers a crew, acquires a ship, and embarks on a quest for treasure with the goal of becoming the Pirate King. However, throughout their journey they encounter treacherous seas and fierce competitors.

Previously, Jamie Lee Curtis expressed interest in playing Dr. Kurehao, a role ultimately given to Sagal. Last September, during the SAG-AFTRA strike from the previous year, she shared an Instagram post featuring herself as the character and a montage of fans advocating for her to assume this role.

“Once the STRIKE… has been RESOLVED under a FAIR AGREEMENT, I plan to advocate together with the escalating excitement among fans to take on the role of Doctor Kureha in @onepiecenetflix,” Curtis wrote in part.

One Piece season two is currently in production in Cape Town, South Africa.
