Martin Scorsese Will Only Turn Down TikTok Videos With Daughter Francesca If He Thinks “It’s Going Too Far”

As a seasoned gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the digital world, I must say that watching Martin Scorsese navigate the realms of TikTok and Gen-Z slang is nothing short of a masterclass in adaptability. It’s like witnessing the director of iconic films like “Goodfellas” and “The Departed” trying to understand the code of a complex video game, only to emerge victorious with a fresh understanding of the new landscape.

Martin Scorsese and his daughter Francesca Scorsese are having a good time together on TikTok, yet it’s important to note that not all video concepts appeal to him.

The acclaimed movie director, often collaborating with his daughter on viral clips, admitted to People magazine that he initially underestimated the popularity of social media and didn’t foresee himself gaining fame on TikTok.

He confessed that he wasn’t aware of TikTok. “Dad,” she said, “just try this for a moment.” So, he gave it a shot, and before he knew it, what he did was spreading like wildfire across the globe.

In some popular online videos, Francesca is seen enlightening her dad about modern youth trends and phrases such as “slept on” and “ick.” Notably, he has even provided humorous commentary for one of her makeup demonstrations.

Regarding whether he’s rejected any video project proposals, the director of “Killers of the Flower Moon” commented, “I’ve declined a few, though I can’t recall them at this moment. When I do, I might say, ‘I believe it’s overstepping boundaries, dear.’ However, she’s an excellent actress with a terrific sense of humor. We have a good connection and I feed off that energy.

Earlier this year, during the Super Bowl, the bond between a father and daughter was depicted in a Squarespace ad. The clip featured a renowned movie director trying, albeit unsuccessfully, to create a website with his daughter’s assistance, as he admitted his lack of knowledge in science fiction.

During a conversation with Vanity Fair regarding their Squarespace partnership, Francesca expressed that she has no remorse for instructing her father on fresh vocabulary.

Occasionally, she mentioned, he employs Gen-Z slang, finding it amusing. For her, hearing phrases like ‘that slaps’ or ‘I’m so woke’ from her father is awkwardly humorous. It’s not that it’s embarrassing exactly, but it’s funny because it shows him attempting to keep up with our generation and with her.
