As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for movies, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming remake of “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.” Martin Starr, known for his roles in “Silicon Valley” and the Spider-Man films, joining the cast is like adding the cherry on top of an already delicious sundae. The original film, starring Rebecca De Mornay and Annabella Sciorra, was a gripping psychological thriller that left me on the edge of my seat, so I can only imagine what this new iteration will bring.
Actor Martin Starr, who’s now starring alongside Sylvester Stallone in “Tulsa King,” is set to join the cast for the reboot of 20th Century Studios’ film, titled “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.
Maika Monroe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are set to star in an upcoming thriller, with Michelle Garza Cervera directing once filming starts later this month in LA. Additionally, Raúl Castillo has been confirmed for the cast.
This remake is based on the 1992 suspenseful film initially released by Buena Vista Pictures and helmed by Curtis Hanson. In this movie, Rebecca De Mornay portrays a sinister widow who, heartbroken over losing her own child, infiltrates a household as their nanny with the aim of eventually seizing the kids and the husband for herself. Annabella Sciorra takes on the role of the mother.
In the latest version of events, it’s Monroe who plays the role of the nanny, with Winstead taking on the character of the mother. Meanwhile, Castillo portrays the part of the father.
Starr will play the family’s neighbor to whom the mother turns for help.
The idea for the reinvention originated with Cervera and was penned by Micah Bloomberg, renowned for crafting the Prime Video anthology series ‘Homecoming’ and writing the gripping thriller ‘Sanctuary’ featuring Margaret Qualley.
Creating the project titled “Cradle” is being handled by Radar Pictures’ Ted Field, along with Michael Schaefer and Mike Larocca, under their label, Department M.
Starr has made a name for himself in the film industry, particularly through his roles in the Tom Holland Spider-Man films. His resume also boasts popular comedies like Party Down and Silicon Valley, as well as movies such as Honey Boy and This is the End. He is represented by IAG, Rise Management, and attorney David Krintzman.
