For Spring/Summer 25 (FW25), Martine Rose once again employs a grungy aesthetic and distorted character masks, as seen in her previous SS25 campaign, sparking debates about the boundaries of beauty and style. Her latest collection, marked by incongruous branding, garish prints and patterns, and retro silhouettes from various time periods, delves into realms where subcultures flourish – from dusty London second-hand markets to the dark dancefloors of underground raves.
In a statement from the brand, Rose expressed her long-standing curiosity about discovering beauty in the hidden aspects of culture. Having created shows featuring characters that resonated with many, she pondered: Can I alter someone’s conventional perception of beauty and yet find them attractive? Surprisingly, she found that it was indeed possible.
The unique design and styling methods of Rose’s brand showcase the freedom of expression embedded within its philosophy, capturing attention across the fashion industry due to its genre-blending, culturally diverse inspirations. Fabrics like velour animal prints and 90s-inspired patterns provide a textural contrast to Martine Rose sports jerseys and outdoor clothing such as military parkas and motorsport jackets.
From my perspective as a style enthusiast, the lower half of my wardrobe features basketball shorts, acid-washed jeans, oversized pleated trousers, workwear pants, and more – all ready to be paired with an array of options. However, what truly catches the eye is the pair of leather fringe trousers available in a striking duo of black and red hues.
Each outfit is completed with unique touches such as souvenir-inspired caps, belt accessories reminiscent of fetish wear, and adornments featuring chains, adding charm to every ensemble. Also, a new Martine Rose bag, crafted from Ostrich-patterned leather, can be found in multiple options. Lastly, the footwear collection showcases boots with thick toes, various leather uppers, and silver accents, enhancing its overall character.
At this moment, Martine Rose hasn’t disclosed the specific launch date for the upcoming line yet. Keep an eye on TopMob for future announcements.
