As a die-hard Marvel fan with years of comics and movies under my belt, I am beyond excited for the upcoming Disney+ series, “Agatha All Along“! Kathryn Hahn’s enchanting portrayal of Agatha Harkness in “WandaVision” left me craving more, and this spin-off promises just that. The new trailer has only fueled my anticipation, revealing tantalizing glimpses into the world of witches, trials, and a potential identity twist with Joe Locke’s character.
Disney+ has just released a fresh trailer for the upcoming spin-off series, titled “Agatha All Along“. This series delves deeper into the life of Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn), following her after her defeat in the finale of WandaVision, where she was bested by Wanda Maximoff/ Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany). The new trailer showcases never-before-seen footage from the series, providing intriguing hints and raising more questions about the much-anticipated comeback of everyone’s beloved Marvel sorceress. Take a look at the trailer below to get a sneak peek.
As a movie critic, I find myself eagerly anticipating the final episode of “WandaVision.” In this installment, the captivating Kathryn Hahn returns as Agatha Harkness, who finds herself bereft of her magical powers and ensnared within Wanda’s enchantment. With her supernatural abilities stripped away, Agatha sets out on a perilous journey, gathering a coven of witches to traverse the treacherous Witches’ Road – an ordeal that bears striking similarities to “The Wizard of Oz.”
New Details from the Agatha All AlongTrailer
In the opening scene of the trailer, Locke takes on the character of “Teen,” a secretive goth admirer with a penchant for sorcery. The trailer implies that it was “Teen” who broke the enchantment spell cast by Wanda, freeing Agatha. This revelation is significant as viewers now have insight into “Teen’s” magical abilities, despite being relatively inexperienced.
There’s been much discussion among fans about who this character truly is. Many now think that Locke might be portraying Billy Kaplan, also known as Wiccan, the son of Wanda and Vision. The trailer offers another hint about the enigmatic identity. As the character meets Agatha, a stylized “M” is seen on his mouth, hiding his identity from her. This suggests that he’s under some sort of magical protection, explaining why he doesn’t have a name yet. It remains to be seen what the “M” symbolizes, but fans are already guessing.
There’s been a lot of speculation among Marvel Comics enthusiasts that the mysterious letter could refer to Mephisto, a villain known for his strong ties with Scarlet Witch and rumored for quite some time now. However, showrunner Jac Schaeffer clarified that Mephisto was never intended to be the antagonist in ‘WandaVision’. Instead, the series focused on Wanda’s emotional turmoil following the events of ‘Avengers Endgame’, providing a self-contained narrative without the need for a major villain. Schaeffer justified this choice by stating that the story was more about exploring Wanda’s grief and trauma, rather than constructing a new villain, and instead, they delved deep into her moving emotional journey.
Hereafter, the series “Agatha All Along” will shed light on the tale of Agatha, a character who was first seen in “WandaVision” as the quirky neighbor ‘Agnes’, providing comic relief. However, it was later disclosed that Harkness is an ancient witch tracing back to Salem’s colonial era. In conversation with “Rolling Stone“, director Kia Hahn shared that she and Schaeffer had a shared vision for exploring Agatha’s background. This paraphrased version aims to convey the original text in a more natural and easy-to-understand manner.
“We shared a common desire. I hoped that Agatha would retain her sharp wit rather than losing it. I was curious to discover what was hidden beneath her prickly, tough exterior. Furthermore, I wanted there to be music and for the camp to continue.”
In Episode 8 of WandaVision, titled “Previously On“, a pivotal moment from Agatha’s past was briefly shown, where she betrayed her coven and seized their magic. This event significantly boosted her powers, but losing them didn’t deter Agatha from stirring up trouble with her malicious plans. It turns out that Agatha is the only witch known to have survived the Witches’ Road. In the trailer for her standalone episode, “Agatha All Along“, we hear her new coven expressing doubts about trusting her. Could Agatha replicate her past betrayals and deceive her new coven? Fans eagerly anticipate the series premiere on September 18.
