Marvel Rivals Ability Breakdown for Mr. Fantastic

In the debut season of “Marvel Rivals“, the focus will be on the Fantastic Four, starting with their leaders, Reed Richards and Sue Storm, who will make their appearances first.

For some time, people have known about Reed’s skills, but recently NetEase Games unveiled an official analysis of Mr. Fantastic’s abilities, prompting a flurry of comparisons between him and the main character of One Piece, Luffy, by many enthusiasts.

Reed Richards in Marvel Rivals

In the game Marvel Rivals, Reed Richards, famously known for his elasticity, functions optimally in combat as a Duelist. He’s capable of attacking enemies from afar with his powers, but also has the unique ability to catch and reposition opponents. Additionally, he can deflect incoming projectiles, and when necessary, transform into an inflated, bouncy form for a short period.

Here’s Mr. Fantastic’s ability breakdown:

  • Primary Fire –Elastic Punch – Reed uses his powers to make stretchy punches that travel a certain distance. Players have also noticed that they can be whipped around while they’re outstretched so Reed can damage more than just one enemy.
  • Secondary Fire – Rubber Grip – Reed can entangle enemies that he’s hit. If you press the primary fire again, he will grab a second enemy and bang them against each other, displacing them and causing damage.
  • Shift – Reflexive Rubber – Reed stretches his body for a limited period of time and absorbs damage; he can then launch that damage in a targeted direction. As per the official breakdown, this ability is powerful enough to bounce back an ultimate.
  • E – Flexible Elongation – Mr. Fantastic can select a target and dash toward them. Depending on the target Reed will either shield from incoming damage if they’re an ally, and deal damage if they’re an enemy.
  • Ultimate – Brainiac Bounce – Mr. Fantastic goes into an inflated state and does some smash attacks to the ground, knocking back enemies. This ability to smash will reset whenever an enemy is hit, and players can repeat this move up to six times before the ultimate ends.
  • Passive – Using Mr. Fantastic’s skills will generate Elasticity. Elasticity will boost damage, and when it is reached in full, Reed will enter an ‘Inflated State’ which enlarges his body, boosts his damage, and doubles his healt.During the Inflated State though, Reed can’t use any of his other abilities, but players can de-trigger it if they decide to use Reed’s usual kit mid-battle.

Say That Word Again

Despite primarily being labeled as a Duelist, Mr. Fantastic’s unique abilities make him exceptionally versatile and more suited for the role of a Vanguard. In fact, his skill set suggests that he is an innate leader, effortlessly adapting to various roles within his team when necessary.

After several weeks of buzz about Mr. Fantastic’s upcoming release, it’s somewhat unexpected that he’s debuting with Invisible Woman instead of Human Torch, who was leaked almost as much as Reed Richards. It appears appropriate that Reed would be introduced alongside his partner Sue Storm, and the contentious siblings Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm are expected to debut together during the mid-season.

Marvel Rivals’ first season officially begins on January 10th, and currently, you can play it on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers.
