Similar to Overwatch, Marvel Rivals is commemorating the Lunar New Year by hosting a special, time-limited event. Given that the game focuses primarily on cosmetic items, they’ve also introduced an assortment of skins designed around the holiday theme.
Certainly! Some skins are always on sale in the store, while others will only be offered for a limited period. Let me share some Spring Festival-themed skins for Marvel Rivals, along with the characters who can wear them.
Hope this helps!
Spring Festival-Themed Costumes in Marvel Rivals
At the start, Marvel Rivals previewed several costumes ahead of the Spring Festival’s official release, but it’s the primary group consisting of Iron Fist, Star-Lord, and Black Widow who are the stars of this event. Interestingly, the Iron Fist and Black Widow costumes can be purchased together in the store, whereas players have a chance to get the Star-Lord costume for free.
The package containing the Lion’s Gaze for Iron Fist and Lion’s Heartbeat for Black Widow is named the Dancing Lions Bundle. This bundle will be priced at 2,800 units. In addition to the character skins, it also includes unique extras such as MVP titles, emotes, and sprays. Notably, fans have detected a special sound effect that triggers every time Iron Fist uses his abilities during gameplay.
The Lion’s Mane Star-Lord skin doesn’t include an MVP or emote upon being unlocked, but he is present in Iron Fist’s MVP. Additionally, players receive a nameplate and spray featuring him.
Other Chinese-Themed Skins
Prior to the unveiling of the Spring Festival event, NetEase has been releasing unique skins for characters that seem to embody the essence of Chinese New Year. These are referred to as skins with an Immortal Dragon motif.
To date, four characters – Doctor Strange (the Immortal Sorcerer), Moon Knight (the Lunar General), Mantis (the Jade Maiden), and Squirrel Girl (the Cheerful Dragoness) – share an appearance reminiscent of the Immortal Dragon. Although these Spring Festival skins are exclusive to the event, it seems that these Immortal Dragon skins may become permanently available for purchase in the store.
It’s likely that NetEase will introduce additional skins based on that theme in the future; however, fans might need to wait until the upcoming Lunar New Year for this to occur.
What Events Are On the Horizon?
Currently, NetEase is concentrating on the Eternal Night Falls event during Season 1, which is anticipated to run for approximately three months before transitioning into the following season.
Unofficially, there’s buzz suggesting that Season 2 could center around mutants, implying an expansion of mutant characters. Additionally, whispers hint at the inclusion of the iconic X-Mansion as a playable map in the upcoming season.
In the game “Marvel Rivals”, it’s frequently pointed out that there aren’t enough maps to play on. However, it is hoped that the developers will address this issue gradually as more seasons roll out and new storylines are added.
As the Lunar New Year wraps up around early February, is it likely we might see some Valentine-themed character skins in the game? Couldn’t it be possible to introduce a Cupid version of Hawkeye within the gameplay?
The Marvel Rivals’ Spring Festival event has officially begun! You can join the fun on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, or your PC.
