Marvel Ultimate Alliance 4 Would be a Great Switch 2 Exclusive

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order turned out to be a delightful surprise, not only due to its revival of a cherished game series, but also because it proved to be an entertaining game independently. The comic-inspired visuals were well-received, and players took pleasure in battling numerous villains as their preferred heroes, truly upholding the reputation of this franchise.

It’s been quiet so far from Nintendo and Team Ninja regarding any updates on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 4, but fans are keeping their fingers crossed that it’s under development. Given the dramatic ending of the game’s DLC, a sequel for the upcoming Switch 2 would be an excellent move.

In Ultimate Alliance 3, the developers were given full creative freedom by Marvel Games, marking a significant departure from earlier times when X-Men and Fantastic Four characters were off-limits due to Marvel not owning 20th Century Fox. This led to a period of lackluster Marvel games, with titles like Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, Marvel’s Avengers, and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 being hampered by these limitations.

Given Disney’s acquisition of Marvel characters through business means, it’s reasonable to anticipate the emergence of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 4. The previous game, with its extensive character roster from both comics and films, was well-received, leading us to expect a follow-up. With the upcoming era of Switch 2, launching the game on Nintendo’s latest system would be strategically sound.

In essence, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 4 appears to have been established as the culmination of the downloadable content (DLC) storyline in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3. Your team of superheroes discovered that Dr. Doom was readying himself for a colossal cosmic danger heading towards Earth following the skirmish with Thanos and Thane regarding the Infinity Gauntlet. This series is well-known for leaving storylines unresolved, such as the one involving Galactus in the original Ultimate Alliance. We certainly hope that a fourth installment will tie up this ongoing narrative.

It seems that the delay in releasing the fourth game might be because a new Nintendo Switch is on the horizon. Nintendo suggested to Ubisoft that they should launch the second Mario + Rabbids game for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 instead, but the developers were optimistic about their project. Regrettably, the game didn’t perform well upon release, indicating that Nintendo was correct, despite the sequel being superior in almost every aspect.

Initially, Ultimate Alliance 3 received positive feedback upon launch, but it wasn’t without its issues. For one, there were frequent difficulty jumps that made gameplay challenging. The battle against the possessed Doctor Strange was particularly tough. Additionally, grinding for experience points was tedious, and the complex ISO-8 system added unnecessary complexity. To make matters worse, Team Ninja overlooked providing DLC alternate colors for the Fantastic Four, which is quite frustrating.

Should Marvel Ultimate Alliance 4 arrive on the Switch 2, fans likely won’t ask for much more beyond additional playable heroes and unique costumes to uncover. Building upon the strong base laid by the third game, we hope they preserve popular features such as the option to increase difficulty levels and the inclusion of Rifts for additional gameplay.

Also, add Luna Snow from Marvel Rivals. Keep her outfit too.
