Marvel’s New Juggernaut In Deadpool & Wolverine Looks Even Bigger In Real Life

Marvel's New Juggernaut In Deadpool & Wolverine Looks Even Bigger In Real Life

As a long-time Marvel fan who has witnessed the evolution of these iconic characters since the turn of the millennium, I must say that Aaron W. Reed’s portrayal of Juggernaut in “Deadpool and Wolverine” is nothing short of phenomenal! The man’s physique is so imposing that it makes even his on-screen incarnation appear diminutive by comparison.

One character from the Marvel universe revived in the hit movie “Deadpool and Wolverine” garnering special attention: Juggernaut, also known as Cain Marko. Previously seen in “Deadpool 2” (2018) and even further back in “X-Men: The Last Stand” (2006), this longtime adversary of the X-Men is unique because he has been portrayed by different actors across his three live-action film appearances.

In the latest casting for the formidable, seemingly indomitable character Juggernaut, actor and bodybuilder Aaron W. Reed has stepped into the role. Although Juggernaut doesn’t have extensive screen time in “Deadpool and Wolverine,” a sneak peek of Reed off-set on the Let’s Talk Movies Facebook page reveals that his real-life physique is even more awe-inspiring than it appears on screen.

In truth, you might have been impressed by his muscular peaks in his past project alongside Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy, when they teamed up for “Deadpool and Wolverine.” You may recall Reed from the 2021 film “Free Guy,” where he lent his physique to Dude, a highly toned iteration of Reynolds’ Guy character that Reynolds’ battles in the climax. Interestingly, it seems Reed wasn’t the original choice for the role of Juggernaut.

Juggernaut’s been different in every Marvel movie

In the movie “Deadpool and Wolverine”, some characters previously seen in Fox’s Marvel series, such as Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth, and Aaron Stanford’s Pyro, are played by the same actors from the original films. However, other significant villains from these earlier productions were subtly recast. The actor who portrayed Juggernaut in “X-Men: The Last Stand”, Vinnie Jones, was invited to reprise his role but chose not to, resulting in Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds hiring Aaron W. Reed instead.

In the film “Deadpool 2”, the role of Juggernaut was approached differently compared to traditionally filling large shoes. Director David Leitch supplied motion capture for Juggernaut’s facial expressions, while both he and Reynolds performed motion capture for the character’s body on set. Reynolds also provided the voice for Marko. On the other hand, for “Deadpool and Wolverine”, they chose to bring in a real-life actor to wear Juggernaut’s helmet and gear.

From myself, I’ve got quite the diverse acting resume beyond my stints with Reynolds and Levy in our duos. You might recognize me from TV shows like “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Jane the Virgin,” and “French Connection,” or perhaps “Dawn of the Zombie Apocalypse.” My wrestling days aren’t forgotten either, where I battled it out as Lift Sawyer in WWE. Even though Juggernaut’s demise was brutal in “Deadpool and Wolverine,” there’s a glimmer of hope that I could reappear in a different form of the character.
