The Marvel Universe consistently introduces fresh material, available in cinemas and through a Disney+ membership. Among the much-awaited future Marvel films, there’s Thunderbolts, a production that promises to assemble an eclectic group of antiheroes and villains from across the universe’s timeline. Actor Sebastian Stan will reprise his role as Bucky, offering insights about Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans potentially returning to the shared universe, given he’s been part of it since its early phases.
The knowledge we have about Thunderbolts is relatively small, but fans are eager to watch how the characters within it engage with one another. Sebastian Stan, a well-known figure among them, is only one of many faces in the Thunderbolts cast, although he has been part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe longer than any other cast member. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 42-year-old actor mentioned the possibility of original cast members like RDJ (Robert Downey Jr.) and Evans reprising their roles in new capacities. In his own words:
It seems to me that what I admire most about Marvel Studios is their unrestricted approach to ideas. They avoid limiting themselves or confining themselves to a specific niche. Instead, they continually seek out new possibilities, which I believe is the key factor that results in exceptional and improved films.
Here it is. It appears that Stan is acknowledging Marvel Studios’ creatives for consistently making fresh decisions. Although Tony Stark met his end in Avengers: Endgame and Steve Rogers received a satisfying conclusion, it doesn’t imply that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans were completely written off. In fact, fans are eagerly awaiting the return of RDJ as Doctor Doom in the upcoming two Avengers films.
Information about “Avengers: Doomsday” is scant, but fans are excited to witness Robert Downey Jr.’s portrayal of a villainous Tony Stark version. The Academy Award-winning actor has been synonymous with the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years, making a bold move with the initial “Iron Man” film. Despite some recent box office flops, it appears that fans who have followed the Marvel films sequentially are eager to see the original Marvel star rejoin the action.
Instead of letting go of the original Avengers after their contracts ended with “Endgame”, it’s plausible that Marvel Studios could bring them back as different characters from other universes, maintaining the integrity of their original endings. For instance, Chris Evans played a swearing Johnny Storm in “Deadpool & Wolverine”, demonstrating that this approach is feasible.
Upcoming Marvel film gracing cinema screens is titled “Captain America: A New Era of Valor“, set for a theater release on Valentine’s Day (February 14th). In the meantime, take note of the 2025 movie premiere dates to arrange your trips to the cinema this year.
