As a seasoned Marvel fan and gaming enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersing myself in the vast universe of superheroes and their digital alter egos, I can’t help but feel the excitement bubbling within me as I read about the latest developments in the upcoming TV show, “Vision Quest.” Paul Bettany returning as our favorite synthetic hero alongside the talented Todd Stashwick, who has played his fair share of roguish characters in shows like “12 Monkeys” and “Star Trek: Picard,” promises an intriguing dynamic.
Although the Vision who lived that sitcom life with Wanda Maximoff in WandaVision was erased from existence when Wanda dropped the magical barrier surrounding the town, the all-white Vision flew off to parts unknown when he had his memories restored. Paul Bettany is now gearing up to reprise the tangible Vision in the android’s upcoming Marvel TV show, which is unofficially being referred to as Vision Quest. Today brings word that Bettany will be accompanied by Star Trek: Picard actor Todd Stashwick, and I’m jazzed to hear details about the role he’ll play.
Back in May, Terry Matalas, the showrunner for “12 Monkeys” and “Star Trek: Picard” Season 3, was appointed as the showrunner for “Vision Quest”. Given this, it’s not unexpected that Matalas has now recruited actor Stashwick. You might remember Stashwick from his roles as Deacon in “12 Monkeys” and Captain Liam Shaw in the last season of “Star Trek: Picard”. As reported by THR, Stashwick will portray an assassin who is pursuing an android and the advanced technology he owns. In other words, the assassin is after both the android and the tech he carries.
Todd Stashwick has made a name for himself portraying villains, and I’m curious about his role as a trouble-maker in the upcoming series “Vision Quest“. It’s refreshing to have some background details instead of being completely clueless about how Stashwick fits into the storyline, which is usually the case when actors are cast for Marvel productions. However, it’s unclear at this point if his character is based on a comic book character or has been created exclusively for “Vision Quest“. It’s likely that he’s playing an existing character, but more details are needed to verify that assumption.
Stashwick joins the cast of “Vision Quest” as it was announced in August that James Spader will return to play Ultron, who serves as a sort of father figure to Vision. Since all of Ultron’s bodies were destroyed at the end of “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, it remains unknown if he will be physically resurrected or if he’ll appear in a non-physical form instead. Filming for “Vision Quest” is slated to start in London in early 2025, and it’s intended as the concluding installment of a trilogy that started with “WandaVision” and will continue later this month with “Agatha All Along”.
