Massive OSRS Chambers of Xeric Update and Others Now Live

Story Highlights

  • OSRS receives its Chambers of Xeric update with new Challenge Mode layouts, rewards, and RNG.
  • The patch streamlines tedious content while adding quality-of-life features across OSRS.
  • It encourages new and veteran players with agility shortcuts, Imcando access, and continued support.

In a significant development, Old School RuneScape (OSRS) has introduced a substantial update for the Chambers of Xeric (CoX). This upgrade has resulted in modifications within boss battles and map creation. These alterations have enhanced the rewards for gamers, enabling them to collect more OSRS gold with each gameplay session. Moreover, Jagex has refined other aspects of the game as well, a move likely to attract novice players to experience these revamped content.

On April 30, I excitedly received an update that became accessible to everyone right away. This update was jam-packed with modifications, but what really caught my eye were the enhancements made to the Chamber of Xeric design.

Updates for Old School RuneScape (OSRS) are consistently being rolled out, even though our developers are spread across multiple projects. The launch of RuneScape: Dragonwilds hasn’t slowed down the progress for either OSRS or RuneScape 3 (RS3). Instead, it has sparked fresh enthusiasm for the two older MMOs (Massively Multiplayer Online Games).

Chamber of Xeric Challenge Mode Layout Option

Initially, one significant complaint from players about the Chamber of Xeric was its randomness regarding portal locations and room arrangements. Frequently, raiders found themselves in situations where they depleted their Health Points (HP) and Mana without reaching the correct portal for the next stage, leading to intensely frustrating experiences.

Now, the Challenge Mode Layout offers increased adaptability and consistency for each playthrough. The Choice of Challenge Mode is applicable not only in Challenge Mode itself, but also during standard gameplay. This means that the challenge level remains consistent across all runs, eliminating any complications related to scaling for rewards or HP specifically designed for Challenge Mode.

In Regular setting, players can select among three options: small, large, or comprehensive layout. Opting for the comprehensive layout ensures that raiders can access all rooms, thereby eliminating the random element (RNG) in standard Chambers of Xeric. This feature is beneficial for beginners in challenge mode to grasp the run’s nuances and also for speedrunners aiming to quickly navigate through most of the rooms while gathering maximum Old School RuneScape gold as they go.

Abyssal Sire Rework

In the game, The Abyssal Sire is often found frustrating due to its lengthy transition periods during battles. However, with the recent update, these transitions have been significantly reduced, resulting in quicker fights. Moreover, the Sire’s movement speed has been increased to keep pace with players and avoid a slow-moving battle rhythm. Regrettably, the new version doesn’t seem to have affected the drop rates for rewards at all.

Chinchompa Insurance

This update means that when you die during player-versus-monster (PvM) battles or disconnect, your Chinchompa plushies will remain with your death pile. These pets function similarly to regular items, but other players may still steal them from you in player-versus-player (PvP) encounters. Furthermore, instead of destroying the Chimchompas, you can now simply drop them to discard them.

Other Minor Changes And Fixes

As I dive back into the gamepost-updates, I’m thrilled to find a host of user-friendly tweaks that enhance my gaming experience. Previously, I’d often find myself slowed down when chasing those elusive fishing spots – it was like they had a mind of their own! Thankfully, the developers have tackled this peculiar issue, ensuring smoother gameplay now.

In the game, it’s now permissible to employ the Imcando Hammer in Entrana. Some players contended that the item lacked additional stats or enhancements for unarmed combat, leading the developers to conclude that there would be no harm in authorizing its use within this content. Now, players can wield both the main-hand and off-hand versions of the hammer during their excursions in Entrana.

Jagex is planning to gradually add shortcuts to agility tracks for players who have high agility levels, enabling them to bypass lengthy walks or routes. Starting in the Varrock Castle Garden, players will be able to leap over a fence when they reach Agility Level 35 and have completed the Garden of Tranquility as a prerequisite.

To wrap up, the recently activated Pact Master on March 14 comes with fresh incentives, and there’s even more dazzling and radiant armor to collect as well!
