Designer Mattias Gollin, famed for the stylish Moon Boots launched recently, is once again in action with a unique fashion project: a custom-made “Replica Suit” fabricated using 50 studded, glowing, and tactile belts sourced from Hollywood Trading Company in Los Angeles.
The rockstar design took its cues from Maison Margiela’s Fall 2012 collaboration with H&M, which showcased numerous recreations of the brand’s iconic and daring shapes. Notably, Margiela’s “Replica” collection contains a variety of precise replicas of chosen vintage silhouettes from around the world. The “Replica Suit,” in particular, has been carefully designed based on the brand’s global discoveries. For this reason, the H&M partnership aimed to honor Maison Margiela’s standout items.
In this setting, Gollin’s “Replica Suit” uses antique items from the past, obtaining all its belts from Hollywood Trading Company’s extensive and meticulous collection of vintage, American leather goods. This combination, as shown in the image above, is quite striking and definitely worth a second glance.
