Mayor Of Kingstown’s Taylor Handley Told Me Why Working With Jeremy Renner Is ‘One Of The Highlights’ Of His Career

Last year, as a huge fan of “Mayor of Kingstown,” I was thrilled when Taylor Handley shared with me the deep bond between his character Kyle and Jeremy Renner’s character Mike. Over the past three seasons, we’ve witnessed their relationship develop and evolve in remarkable ways. Now, with Season 3 nearing its end on the 2024 TV schedule, Handley opened up about working with Renner and why it has been “one of the most rewarding experiences” of his career.

Last year marked the release of Season 2 of “Mayor of Kingstown” on Paramount+. During that time, Taylor Handley shared insights with me about the deep bond between his character Kyle and Jeremy Renner’s character Mike, which we have witnessed develop over the past three seasons. With Season 3 nearing its conclusion in the 2024 TV lineup, Handley spoke candidly about collaborating with Renner, revealing it as a significant career achievement for him.

In an interview with TopMob, I inquired about the discussions between Handley and Renner that enabled them to portray accurately the events of Season 3. Given the significant life changes experienced by both Kyle and Mike – the loss of their mothers and the arrival of a newborn baby – Handley’s character becoming a father and Renner’s an uncle, they have been handling a great deal of upheaval. The Kyle actor disclosed that he appreciates how they don’t engage in lengthy discussions about their roles off-set, instead choosing to dive right in.

Working with Jeremy is an exceptional experience for me, as we don’t need lengthy discussions beforehand. He consistently arrives prepared, and the same goes for me. When we begin a scene together, we plunge right in. Jeremy delivers impressive performances, and I enthusiastically join in, serving as his supportive counterpart.

Jeremy Renner has openly discussed his recovery from the snowplow accident and its effects on his work and persona in “Kingstown.” In contrast, his colleagues have praised him excessively. The show’s co-creator and Ian actor, Hugh Dillon, revealed they prepared carefully for Renner’s return. Nevertheless, Renner returned with vigor, filming some action scenes himself and reclaiming his character’s confidence effortlessly. Handley shared that he enjoys collaborating with Renner due to his passion and positive vibes on set.

As a huge fan of both the Avengers actor and Dillon, I wasn’t surprised when the Kyle performer elaborated on his point during an interview. You see, these talented individuals aren’t just actors; they also have musical skills. So it makes perfect sense to me that they can bring depth and authenticity to their roles.

When I’m fully immersed in creating art as a gamer, I’m constantly on the hunt for that special magic moment. It’s what keeps me hooked and passionate about my craft, be it music or acting. These moments of enchantment are rare but priceless, and with Renner by my side, they never fail to materialize. Sharing scenes with him is a treat because he always delivers something raw and genuine, yet elevated. His presence pushes me to become a better artist too.

I’m really looking forward to the dynamic between Handley and Renner, and I can’t wait to watch more interactions between Mike and Kyle in the upcoming episodes.
