As a seasoned movie critic with over three decades of film-watching under my belt, I must say that the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) production, ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps‘, has piqued my interest like no other. Having been a die-hard comic book fan since my youth and having witnessed the highs and lows of superhero adaptations on the silver screen, I can confidently say that this latest attempt at bringing Marvel’s First Family to life is shaping up to be something truly special.
How does it play out when movie sets are stumbled upon by a band of unsuspecting adventurers instead of paparazzi or overzealous fans? That’s what transpired with the upcoming film Fantastic Four: First Steps, as a group of local urban explorers chanced upon deserted sets in the English midlands. Although production on First Steps has concluded, and the cast and crew were presented with thoughtful Stan Lee-inspired gifts to mark wrapping up, it seems that Marvel Studios overlooked one detail – the removal of the used sets.
In the narrative, they remarked about the scene they encountered, stating, “As we strolled along with our lanterns, we stumbled upon this unusual sight – an entire built-up area, complete with an old American bus parked there. There were lighting rigs on scaffolding and a diagram showing where all the lights should be placed. It was quite peculiar to find an elevator car stationary in the middle of the road, alongside a stage set up before the bus.” Interestingly, this location has been used for filming scenes from Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy and more recently, Tom Cruise shot a scene for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning here as well.
‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Is Kevin Feige’s Most Anticipated MCU Project
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I’ve eagerly anticipated the arrival of the Fantastic Four within the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite some time now. This latest rendition marking their entry into the MCU is actually the third attempt to establish a successful Fantastic Four franchise on the silver screen. Much like any other Marvel movie, “First Steps” boasts an exceptional ensemble cast, with Pedro Pascal stepping into the shoes of Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby donning the role of Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn igniting as The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach embodying Ben Grimm, also known as The Thing.
Despite the convention that parents shouldn’t have favorites, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has openly expressed his preference in a way that fathers usually keep hidden. In a recent statement, he revealed that among all the upcoming MCU movies, he is most eager for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Initially, he maintained an air of neutrality, but eventually confessed his affection, saying “I’m excited about them all, but I would say… Fantastic Four.” He further explained:
Speaking of it, let’s discuss the long-awaited endeavor of introducing Marvel’s First Family in the MCU, which has been a 25-year dream come true. The talented cast mentioned earlier is truly remarkable.
On July 25, 2025, the movie titled “Fantastic Four: First Steps” will hit theaters. This much-awaited Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film is expected to compete with “Captain America: New World Order,” which releases in February, and “Thunderbolts*” that comes out in May, as the most exciting MCU releases of the year.
