Previously known for various roles, Chris Hemsworth now shares his name with an extraordinary creature – a spider at the Australian Reptile Park. Though not identical, the Thor actor’s imposing physique and towering stature inspired the park to bestow this moniker upon a new resident due to its remarkable size. Nicknamed “The Hemsworth,” this funnel-web spider was graciously donated to the park through one of their collection centers. According to spider handler Emma Teni, no other name seemed fitting for this imposing arachnid.
The spider appeared enormous compared to others, almost like Chris Hemsworth and his brothers who stand tall among the crowd. Initially, we assumed he was a female due to his size, but upon careful examination, it turned out he’s actually male.
The donated spider measuring 9.2 centimeters has become the largest ever given to the park along Central Coast. This spider, known for its fangs that can puncture a human fingernail and potentially kill a person within 15 minutes due to its venom, now plays a role in their antivenom program. Given its dangerous nature, it seems this park might be the best place for its safety. At present, Hemsworth hasn’t expressed his feelings about this unexpected recognition, but stay tuned to his social media accounts for an upcoming response.
Chris Hemsworth is as Popular as Ever
Being recognized by having something named after you, such as one of Australia’s dangerous animals, is a prestige that most ordinary people rarely encounter. Yet, for Hemsworth, it’s just another typical day at work for the widely adored actor. At this moment, his fame and lineup of upcoming films have never been more remarkable.
Chris Hemsworth’s comeback as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe appears to be almost certain, with appearances slated for upcoming Avengers films as well as his fifth standalone film. His voice role in Transformers One is set to continue with speculation of a part in the live-action crossover between Transformers and G.I. Joe, titled Extraction 3, which will start production this year. Furthermore, he is rumored to portray a character resembling Prince Charming in an upcoming Disney movie.
Initially scheduled for a leading role in a biographical movie was Hulk Hogan, the once iconic WWE wrestler from the 90s. Chris Hemsworth had been cast to portray him in this film, which was planned for Netflix. However, after experiencing numerous postponements and setbacks, it appears that the biopic has now stalled and may not proceed.
Certainly, Hemsworth will always have an abundance of job opportunities if he desires it, so there’s no need for concern on that front. Even his older films are consistently popular on streaming services, with his 10-year-old historical action movie In the Heart of the Sea, displacing newer releases such as Netflix’s massive original production Carry-On to claim the top spot on their chart. This popularity also extends to last year’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which climbed into the top five after its addition to the streamer’s library.
