Meenakshi Seshadri RECALLS kissing scene with Anil Kapoor in Yash Chopra's Vijay; 'I could do it because of...'

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the intricacies of the film industry, I must say that Meenakshi Seshadri is a true icon. Her journey from Painter Babu to Ghatak: Lethal has been nothing short of captivating. What sets her apart, in my humble opinion, is not just her acting prowess but also her grace under pressure and professionalism on set.

Meenakshi Seshadri, a cherished figure in the film world, first appeared on screen in 1983 with “Painter Babu” and achieved immense popularity following her role in “Hero” (1983). Ever since then, she has been a familiar face to many. Recently, Seshadri graced our screens once more in Rajkumar Santoshi’s action-thriller “Ghatak: Lethal,” alongside Sunny Deol. In a recent interview, Meenakshi shared insights about the memorable kissing scene she shared with Anil Kapoor in Yash Chopra’s film “Vijay.”

During a chat with Lehren Retro, Meenakshi Seshadri reminisced about collaborating with Anil Kapoor and Sunny Deol. She mentioned that she worked with Kapoor more frequently than any other actor and discussed the controversial kissing scene they filmed together under director Yash Chopra’s direction in the movie Vijay (1988).

Meenakshi stated that she was able to accomplish the task due to Yashji and Anil. They were both highly professional, yet easygoing and calm. Furthermore, she felt assured that the final product on screen would appear well-organized, avoiding any hint of perversion, strangeness, or sleaziness.

Reflecting on collaborating with Sunny Deol in Rahul Rawail’s Dacait, I reminisce about a kissing scene we shared that unfortunately never made it to the big screen due to censorship. The Censor Board (Central Board of Film Certification – CBFC) deemed it unfit for public viewing, and thus, the audience missed out on what was intended to be an intriguing moment. On a brighter note, I’ve experienced significant successes in my career with Sunny, and to this day, fans continue to ask for a future collaboration between us.

During the same interview, Seshadri discussed the factors contributing to the lengthy careers of male actors. She pointed out that unlike female actors, men generally don’t take on household chores, enabling them to focus solely on their careers. Additionally, she mentioned that males are typically spared from difficulties such as childbirth, pregnancy, or child-rearing, duties that frequently burden women.

Seshadri posits that certain elements contribute to the longevity of stars such as Dharmendra, Jeetendra, and Amitabh Bachchan within the film industry. Moreover, she emphasizes the significance of audience admiration towards these actors, which plays a vital role.

In addition to her academic work, Meenakshi Seshadri was also a film actress, appearing in movies such as Damini, Hero, Ghatak: Lethal, Ghayal, Ghar Ho To Aisa, Shahenshah, Jurm, Aadmi Khilona Hai, Parivaar, Aaj Ka Goonda Raaj, and many others.
