As an ardent devotee of the illustrious Bollywood dynasty, I find myself captivated by the journey of none other than Prateik Babbar. Born into stardom, he kickstarted his acting career under the tutelage of Ad guru Prahlad Kakkar, serving as a production assistant. After gracing numerous brand campaigns with my presence, it was finally Aamir Khan’s production and Imran Khan’s direction that provided me with my cinematic debut. In this article, we delve into the fascinating life of Prateik Babbar.
Born to the late actress Smita Patil and actor-turned-politician Raj Babbar, Prateik Babbar initially worked as a production assistant before venturing into films. In 2008, he made his screen debut playing Amit Mahant in the romantic comedy “Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na,” which was produced by Aamir Khan and marked both Imran Khan’s acting debut and Genelia Deshmukh’s prominent appearance.
The following year, he stunned the industry with his exceptional acting skills in the independent movie Dhobi Ghat, directed by Kiran Rao. After that, Prateik appeared in Dum Maro Dum, alongside Abhishek Bachchan and Rana Daggubati, and was part of Prakash Jha’s Aarakshan with Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, and Deepika Padukone. Furthermore, he starred as the main character in the 2011 film My Friend Pinto alongside Kalki Koechlin.
Following appearances as a supporting actor in various films, he decided to enroll in a method acting class and re-emerged with the release of Umrika in 2015. For the first time, he portrayed the villain in Baaghi 2, which not only showcased his transformation but also signaled his return to the big screen following a challenging period in his career. Some other projects of his include Mulk, Chhichhore, Mumbai Saga, and India Lockdown.
In the early part of this year, I had the privilege of portraying Arya in the heartwarming rom-com movie titled “Dhoom Dhaam.” This production, helmed by director Rishabh Seth, was a delightful collaboration with talented actors like Yami Gautam Dhar and Pratik Gandhi. As we speak, I’m filled with anticipation for the release of my upcoming project, the action-packed thriller “Sikandar,” under the guidance of none other than Salman Khan.
This high-budget movie directed by AR Murugadoss boasts a star-studded cast including Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi, Anjini Dhawan, and others. Set for a grand theatrical release on March 30, 2025, this film, known as “Sikandar,” is one of the priciest productions in Indian cinema.
In a personal development, actor Prateik Smita Patil (formerly known as Prateik Babbar) tied the knot with Priya Banerjee in February 2025.
