Meet actor known for good looks, worked with Shah Rukh Khan and Sunny Deol but left movies to become a prominent TV face

As an ardent fan of Bollywood, I must say that Apurva Agnihotri is undoubtedly one of the most talented and versatile actors to have emerged from the industry in recent years. His debut film, Pardes, alongside stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Mahima Chaudhary, was a massive success and catapulted him into stardom almost overnight.

In the Bollywood industry, there are numerous actors who achieved widespread fame through their debut film. Yet, only a select few of them have successfully established a niche and sustained growth for their career despite limited opportunities. One such actor we’re discussing has collaborated with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Sunny Deol, and Suniel Shetty

To make things clear, our discussion revolves around Apurva Agnihotri, the actor whose charm captivated audiences through his roles in numerous popular films from the late ’90s and early ’00s, thanks to his appealing looks

In 1997, he first appeared on screen in the highly acclaimed film “Pardes” directed by Subhash Ghai. This movie starred Shah Rukh Khan and Mahima Chaudhary alongside him. His portrayal of a negative character was well-received and became the key to his success

Approximately two years after his initial appearance in Pyar Koi Khel Nahin, followed by subsequent roles in films like Krodh, Hum Ho Gaye Aapke, Kasoor, Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai, Dhund, and Lakeer, it’s not incorrect to state that the level of acclaim his debut film could garner, no other movie could achieve that for Apurva

In a more accessible language, we can say: Besides movies, he also made his mark in television. His breakthrough role as Armaan Suri in Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin significantly increased his fame. Later, he was seen in shows such as Kaajjal, Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi, Sapna Babul Ka…Bidaai, Aasman Se Aage, Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara, Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh, Bepannaah Anupamaa, and many more

Beyond what’s been mentioned, he’s also taken part in various reality TV programs, such as Nach Baliye, Pati Patni Aur Who, and Big Brother Season 7

Apurva spread his acting talents and joined the cast of the web series “Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain,” which first aired on Alt Balaji. Interestingly, this show originally debuted on Zee TV on March 25, 2020, replacing other shows. Unfortunately, the channel had to halt broadcasts due to the COVID-19 pandemic

Back in 2014, I, with a heart brimming with passion, shared my dream of directing movies that would resonate with the masses yet maintain a touch of intelligence. Speaking to IANS, I confessed, “I yearn to create at least one or two films. I don’t shy away from mainstream productions. Finances are crucial in cinema. I aim to work within commercial realms while crafting films like ‘Highway’ and ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’, which manage to be both popular and profound, without being mindless.”

After being questioned about his limited appearances in films following “Pardes”, the actor openly admitted that several elements were involved, but his inherent personality was the main cause. He stated that it’s difficult for an introvert to flourish in show business; one must promote oneself and be visible. However, Apurva disclosed that he couldn’t socialize constantly, party every day, or flatter people as required in the industry

In his private life, Apurva is contentedly wedded to Shilpa Saklani, whom he co-starred with in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhii Thha. Their mutual friend Rakshanda Khan played the role of matchmaker. They exchanged vows on June 24, 2004. Eighteen years into their marriage, they welcomed a daughter, Ishaani Kanu Agnihotri, who was born on Apurva’s birthday, December 2, 2022

In simpler terms, could you please share your desire for Apurva to return to the screen once more, and remember to engage with us in the comment section? Thank you!
