As a dedicated observer of Bollywood, I must say that Zayed Khan’s journey is one that resonates deeply with me. Born into a family of legends, he seemed destined for greatness, yet his path was not without its twists and turns.
Contrary to the common belief that every star child will succeed in Bollywood, this is not always the case. For instance, let’s delve into the life of an actor who comes from a lineage of renowned stars. At one time, even Shah Rukh Khan hoped his son Aryan would follow in his footsteps. Following a successful debut with a blockbuster movie, his career took a turn for the worse, marked by a string of failures. Leaving Bollywood behind, he dabbled in television, but fortune eluded him there as well. Stepping out of the limelight, he turned to business and currently heads a company valued at an impressive Rs 1500 crore according to recent news. However, his story doesn’t conclude there—he is poised for a highly anticipated return to acting!
If you’re yet to figure out who I’m referring to, don’t sweat it! The individual is none other than Zayed Khan. He’s the offspring of 70s-80s megastar Sanjay Khan, nephew of the iconic Feroz Khan, and relative to Fardeen Khan. It appears that Bollywood stardom was in Zayed’s bloodline. However, despite his prestigious family background, Zayed found it challenging to make a name for himself in the industry.
Equipped with a Business Management degree from Montgomery College and filmmaking skills honed at the London Film Academy, he found an effortless transition into Bollywood. His initial foray, Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne featuring Esha Deol, didn’t yield the desired effect, and the box office reception was less than favorable.
Zayed Khan reached the pinnacle of his acting career when he portrayed Shah Rukh Khan’s half-brother in the smash hit Main Hoon Na. The relationship between their characters was a standout feature, and under Farah Khan’s direction, the movie was both critically acclaimed and financially successful. Regrettably, this was the only significant triumph in Zayed’s film career.
After a series of films like Shaadi Number One, Dus, Vada, Fight Club, Mission Istanbul, Yuvvraaj, Anjaana Anjaani, among others, he was in, but these didn’t create much buzz at the box office. Regrettably, Zayed’s career took a downturn, with 13 films flopping between 2005 and 2015. Following his final film, Sharafat Gayi Tel Lene, he chose to leave Bollywood. He experimented with television, featuring in Haasil, but this phase was short-lived, and by 2018, Zayed had vanished completely from the public eye.
Despite being absent from the entertainment world for several years, Zayed Khan apparently maintains a luxurious lifestyle. According to ABP’s reports, this actor has wisely invested in various ventures and operates his own business, which is said to have amassed a substantial net worth estimated at approximately Rs 1500 crore.
In an interview with Subhojit Ghosh, he playfully downplayed the idea of possessing a vast fortune, yet underscored the significance of financial prudence. He highlighted the hardships many individuals encounter in managing their finances today and underscored the notion that genuine wealth lies not in displaying material goods, but rather in living frugally and sensibly.
Reflecting on our recent chat, I shared a charming memory with Shah Rukh Khan about a time when he expressed his hope that his son, Aryan, might grow up to be like me. After some time apart, I couldn’t help but notice how much more serious and mature Aryan had become. In good humor, SRK playfully proposed an arm-wrestling match, which I gladly accepted. When Shah Rukh inquired about Aryan’s wellbeing, I told him he still possessed that special ‘spark’.
During a chat on Zoom, actor Zayed Khan candidly discussed his career’s downturn, primarily linking it to his extensive work in multi-star movies. He admitted that his early success led him to underestimate its value, disregarding the counsel of those who advised him to strive for lead roles instead.
The actor reflected on the responsibility that comes with stardom, explaining that once an actor is established, it’s crucial to demonstrate the ability to carry a film. Zayed also mentioned that his father, the seasoned actor Sanjay Khan, disagreed with his film selections and revealed taking a break from acting when he found himself only being offered supporting roles, which he felt were not aligned with his ambitions.
Recently on Instagram, Zayed Khan expressed his excitement to fans about returning to acting after a 20-year career in the industry. He didn’t specify any projects yet, but shared his eagerness for this new venture, saying “Hello everyone! In 20 years, with your love and support, I’ve been away, but now I’m back and can’t wait to share my upcoming movie with all of you!
