As an ardent fan of Ruslaan Mumtaz, I have always been captivated by his charm and talent that shines through even in his most challenging roles. His journey in Bollywood is nothing short of intriguing; from being a star kid to almost landing a role in Slumdog Millionaire, only to miss out due to circumstances beyond his control. Yet, he never let the setbacks deter him and continued to strive for success.
In one of the most eagerly awaited productions, this actor first appeared on screen alongside Hazel Crowney. As the child of a famous star, he attempted various leading roles and, for a while, drew significant attention. Unfortunately, his career had more flops than successes. Despite this, his appeal still enchants his devoted fans who once adored him as a heartthrob.
If you’re curious to know, today we delve into Ruslaan Mumtaz, who happens to be the son of the esteemed actress Anjana Mumtaz. Ruslaan first appeared on the big screen in 2007 with MP3: Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar, where he garnered critical acclaim for his acting skills. After that, he took center stage in the 2009 film Teree Sang, and later starred in another youth-oriented drama titled Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai, alongside Riteish Deshmukh and Jacqueline Fernandez.
2012 saw Ruslaan significantly contributing to Karisma Kapoor’s return to the silver screen through the film Dangerous Ishhq, following her extended break. Interestingly, some may not be aware that this actor was nearly cast in Slumdog Millionaire, but a delay in final auditions ultimately prevented him from being part of this box-office hit. In an earlier conversation with IANS, Mumtaz expressed that while Slumdog Millionaire could have boosted his career, he remains content with his decision to pass on the opportunity.
Ruslaan clarified, “During my initial audition, I was quite slim, as requested by the producers of Slumdog Millionaire for my character. However, when they invited me back for the final auditions four months later, I had developed a more muscular appearance.” He mentioned that while he eagerly anticipated working on Slumdog Millionaire, another film titled Jaane Kahan Se Aayi Hai also offered him a role during that period.
In order to fit the role perfectly and avoid any lean appearance, Ruslaan had to exude a superstar vibe without a hint of leanness. However, during his final auditions for Slumdog Millionaire, the crew found him different from their initial perception, which led to him not being cast. Later on, he appeared in various films, one of them being Jabariya Jodi, starring Sidharth Malhotra.
Despite films not always favoring this charming individual, television provided him with plenty throughout the years and maintained his popularity among his fans.
