As an ardent fan, I can confidently say that Rahul Bose is nothing short of a marvel. His journey from playing the lead character in a school play to becoming the President of Indian Rugby Football Union and working alongside stars like Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra is simply inspiring.
Can you imagine somebody being talented enough to juggle between sports and acting like a boss? Guess exceptions are there as we talk about an exceptional talent who worked with the likes of Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra. Nevertheless, his prowess in sports ensured him position of a President of Indian Rugby Football Union.
We’re talking about none other than Rahul Bose. His first stint with acting was at the age of six when he played the lead character in a school play, Tom, the Piper’s Son.
Beyond this, he harbored a fervent passion for athletics too. His mother fostered his love for boxing and rugby union within him. Moreover, he dabbled in cricket and received coaching from the esteemed former captain of the Indian cricket team, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi. As time progressed, he embarked on a career as a copywriter and eventually ascended to the position of an advertising creative director.
In 1994, I stepped away from my career to fully immerse myself in the world of acting, following the phenomenal success of my debut film, “English, August.” This breakthrough role catapulted me into the limelight and opened doors for numerous other projects. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working on movies such as “Split Wide Open,” “Mr. and Mrs. Iyer,” “Jhankaar Beats,” “Chameli,” the National Award-winning “15 Park Avenue,” “Pyaar Ke Side Effects,” “Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam,” “Chain Kulii Ki Main Kulii,” “Dil Dhadakne Do,” “Bulbbul” and many more.
Beyond his current role, he has also been involved with hit web series such as Bombay Begums, Taj, Eternally Confused and Eager for Love, plus some more. His latest appearance was on Zee 5’s show titled Berlin.
Beyond his acting work, he has also ventured into filmmaking roles such as writing, directing films including Everybody Says I’m Fine!, The Whisperers, and Poorna: There Are No Limits to Courage.
Although he’s successfully established himself in a specific role, the actor explained to the Indian Express his reservations about being offered leading roles. He stated, “I understood that if I wanted to take on leads, I would need to work on smaller-budget films. Producers of big-budget projects typically cast well-known stars, so why would they consider me instead? That’s been a significant factor in my career decisions; from 1993 up until around 2012-13, I exclusively played lead roles.
Despite any reservations or negative emotions, the actor expresses nothing but appreciation for his long career in the industry. In his own words, he is incredibly thankful for having made it in the business with his particular appearance. He also mentioned that he is not exceptionally attractive by conventional standards.
