A man hailing from Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, has astonishingly secured a nomination for his movie in the prestigious Academy Awards. This might seem surreal, but it’s a true accomplishment for this rising star. Can you identify this talented actor yet? He gained recognition by portraying the young Shah Rukh Khan in My Name is Khan (2010), and went on to act in critically acclaimed films that earned both praise from critics and adoration from fans. Have you figured it out?

I’m excited to share some insights about an actor whose talent has left a lasting impression on me – Adarsh Gourav. At just 30 years old, this dedicated artist gained recognition following his role in Shah Rukh Khan’s movie. Since then, he graced our screens with captivating performances in the anthology Madly (2016) and the films Rukh (2017) and Mom. During this film production, Adarsh chose to earn just Rs 100 a day by working at a tea stall. He shared with Vogue that he went to the village of Chalkari Basti in Jharkhand to familiarize himself with the environment and explore new perspectives outside of his everyday life. Later, in Delhi’s Saket area, Adarsh took on this role by working at a tea stall while disguised as his character.

In an interview with Mail Today, he shared, “I transformed myself into Balram and let my hair and beard grow wild. I went without bathing for weeks on end. Every day, I made Rs 100 by cleaning dishes and serving others – a role I deeply disliked. One particular day, as I was making my way back to my hotel, a man asked me to help carry his bags in exchange for Rs 20. These experiences prepared me superbly for portraying my career’s most significant character.”

The White Tiger, featuring Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao, gained numerous recognitions besides Adarsh. Notably, it was nominated for the AACTA International Award for Best Performance by an Actor, BAFTA’s award for the Best Actor in a Leading Role, and Independent Spirit Award for the Outstanding Male Performance.

Adarsh Gourav next appeared in productions such as “Guns & Gulaabs,” “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan,” “Wo Bhi Din The,” and “Hostel Daze.” Upcoming projects include “Superboys of Malegaon,” helmed by Reema Kagti. This film is slated for a prestigious debut in the Gala segment at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival on September 13.
