In a fresh poster for “Ironheart”, one of the series’ concealed main antagonists was revealed – the powerful offspring of an Iron Man villain from the past. Despite being set squarely in the current timeline of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the show pays homage to the franchise’s roots, as Dominique Thorne’s character, Riri Williams, takes up the mantle once held by Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. This isn’t just a resemblance to a classic superhero suit; it also addresses a significant plot point left unresolved since the 2008 film.
Following a series of playful pre-launch hints, Alden Ehrenreich’s character, Zeke Stane, is now prominently featured in a fresh poster for Disney+’s Ironheart. Zeke is the energetic offspring of Iron Man villain Obediah Stane, who takes up the antagonistic role once held by his father in the new streaming series.
A fresh poster for the upcoming Ironheart film, featuring Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams facing off against Ehrenreich’s latest Marvel Cinematic Universe antagonist, was recently unveiled on Marvel Studios‘ official Instagram page.
In the image, Zeke and Riri stand facing each other, each displaying their unique abilities – Zeke emitting electrical energy, while Riri shows off a hint of magical power reminiscent of Doctor Strange. This arrangement seems to resemble a title card for a boxing match, announcing their names.
In the latter part of “Ironheart,” I discarded my Joe Macgilicuddy alias, teaming up with the cunning Hood, portrayed by Anthony Ramos. Subsequently, I underwent a transformation, receiving biotech that converted my entire physique into an Iron Man-esque suit.
Among the assortment of villains in the Ironheart series, Ezekiel Stane is the one who has built a substantial past within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The latest production, overseen by showrunner Chinaka Hodge and executive producer Ryan Coogler, revolves around the character Riri Williams, a prodigious teenage genius, who finds herself entangled with unsavory elements after accepting a position in the crew of Parker Collins, played by Anthony Ramos. You can catch all six episodes of Ironheart right now on Disney+.
What Is Next for Ezekiel Stane in the MCU?
Alden Ehrenreich’s character, Ezekiel Stane, leaves a loose end in the story of Ironheart, which may be revisited at some point in the future Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline.
Instead of abandoning his initial Marvel Studios project as his predecessor had done, Zeke chose to keep it going. Far from being deceased or absent, the son of the Iron Man villain is very much active.
In the final scenes, Dominque Thorne’s steel-strong character delivered a kick to his foe in a sensitive area, which triggered a complete system shutdown and freed Zeke from the Hood’s influence. Just before vanishing for the remainder of the series, he assured Riri, “We’ve got more to do.
In other words, the character has not been eliminated from the story; they are still present, much like Parker Collins and the recently introduced Mephisto.
Information about whether Ironheart will have a second season hasn’t been officially announced yet, though there is hope among fans like Thorne that it might be renewed. Given the numerous plot threads left unresolved in the Season 1 finale, it seems logical that Marvel Studios may wish to explore more tales centered around this armored hero.
If given the go-ahead for Season 2, it’s highly likely that Ezekiel Stane will play a significant role, potentially taking on a leading antagonist position instead of just being a supporting character to Anthony Ramos’ Hood.
