In my gaming world, the dinos of Jurassic World Rebirth are downright monstrous, menacing, yet somehow, even in their Funko POP! forms, they’ve got a charming cuteness about them.
Essentially, SYFY WIRE offers a special peek at the fresh toy collection inspired by the highly-awaited movie, expanding the dinosaur family in the renowned film series. The scariest beast among these genetically altered monsters is the Distortus Rex, a massive mutant terror, reminiscent of the Xenomorph from Alien and the Rancor from Return of the Jedi, as director Gareth Edwards (known for Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) shared with Vanity Fair. However, in Funko form, Distortus appears quite endearing.
Among the latest debutants gracing the silver screen are Aquilops, a miniature ancestor of Triceratops dating back to the Early Cretaceous, Diabloceratops, an inhabitant of the Late Cretaceous renowned for its horns reminiscent of a devil, and Titanosaurus, a colossal sauropod hailing from the Late Jurassic era, related to Brachiosaur and Apatosaurus.

Indeed, there are several dinosaurs making a comeback too – notably the T. rex, Velociraptor, the Dilophosaurus that spits venom, the Spinosaurus, last seen in “Jurassic Park III”, the maritime Mosasaurus from Colin Trevorrow’s “Jurassic World” series, Carnotaurus, who was chasing Owen Grady through Malta streets in “Jurassic World Dominion”, and Quetzalcoatlus, last seen damaging Kayla Watts’ plane in “Dominion”.
To put it simply, stepping into the world of “Rebirth” was like taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane for screenwriter David Koepp, famously known for penning classics like “Jurassic Park” and “The Lost World.” This seventh installment in the franchise takes us back to the very island where InGen conducted their initial genetic research for John Hammond’s ill-fated theme park. Led by Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), our team is on a mission to gather DNA samples from the largest creatures, supposedly for a pharmaceutical company looking to create groundbreaking medical advancements for humanity. Sounds plausible, right?
